Psalm 103

Psalm 103

The Forgiving God

Of David.

My soul, bless the Lord,
and all that is within me, bless his holy name.(A)
My soul, bless the Lord,
and do not forget all his benefits.(B)

He forgives all your iniquity;(C)
he heals all your diseases.(D)
He redeems your life from the Pit;(E)
he crowns you with faithful love and compassion.(F)
He satisfies you[a] with good things;(G)
your youth is renewed like the eagle.(H)

The Lord executes acts of righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.(I)
He revealed his ways to Moses,(J)
his deeds to the people of Israel.(K)
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.(L)
He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.(M)
10 He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our iniquities.(N)

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his faithful love
toward those who fear him.(O)
12 As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed
our transgressions from us.(P)
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.(Q)
14 For he knows what we are made of,
remembering that we are dust.(R)

15 As for man, his days are like grass—
he blooms like a flower of the field;(S)
16 when the wind passes over it, it vanishes,
and its place is no longer known.[b](T)
17 But from eternity to eternity
the Lord’s faithful love is toward those who fear him,
and his righteousness toward the grandchildren(U)
18 of those who keep his covenant,
who remember to observe his precepts.(V)
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.(W)

20 Bless the Lord,
all his angels of great strength,
who do his word,
obedient to his command.(X)
21 Bless the Lord, all his armies,
his servants who do his will.(Y)
22 Bless the Lord, all his works
in all the places where he rules.(Z)
My soul, bless the Lord!

Psalm 114-115

Psalm 114

God’s Deliverance of Israel

When Israel came out of Egypt—
the house of Jacob from a people
who spoke a foreign language(A)
Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel, his dominion.(B)

The sea looked and fled;(C)
the Jordan turned back.(D)
The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills, like lambs.(E)
Why was it, sea, that you fled?
Jordan, that you turned back?(F)
Mountains, that you skipped like rams?
Hills, like lambs?(G)

Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,(H)
who turned the rock into a pool,
the flint into a spring.(I)

Psalm 115

Glory to God Alone

Not to us, Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory
because of your faithful love, because of your truth.(J)
Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?” (K)
Our God is in heaven
and does whatever he pleases.(L)

Their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.(M)
They have mouths but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
They have ears but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.(N)
They have hands but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk.(O)
They cannot make a sound with their throats.(P)
Those who make them are[a] just like them,
as are all who trust in them.(Q)

Israel,[b] trust in the Lord!(R)
He is their help and shield.(S)
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord!(T)
He is their help and shield.(U)
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!(V)
He is their help and shield.
12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
He will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;(W)
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord
small and great alike.(X)

14 May the Lord add to your numbers,
both yours and your children’s.(Y)
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.(Z)
16 The heavens are the Lord’s,[c]
but the earth he has given to the human race.(AA)
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
nor any of those descending into the silence of death.(AB)
18 But we will bless the Lord,
both now and forever.(AC)
Hallelujah!

Deuteronomy 8:1-3

Remember the Lord

“Carefully follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase, and may enter and take possession of the land(A) the Lord swore to your ancestors. Remember that the Lord your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then he gave you manna to eat, which you and your ancestors had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.(B)

Colossians 1:1-14

Greeting

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will,(A) and Timothy(B) our brother:

To the saints in Christ at Colossae, who are faithful brothers and sisters.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father.[a]

Thanksgiving

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth,(C) the gospel that has come to you. It is bearing fruit(D) and growing all over the world,(E) just as it has among you since the day you heard it and came to truly appreciate(F) God’s grace.[b](G) You learned this from Epaphras,(H) our dearly loved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ(I) on your[c] behalf, and he has told us about your love in the Spirit.(J)

Prayer for Spiritual Growth

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking(K) that you may be filled with the knowledge(L) of his will(M) in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,[d] 10 so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work(N) and growing in the knowledge of God,(O) 11 being strengthened(P) with all power,(Q) according to his glorious(R) might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you[e] to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.(S) 13 He has rescued(T) us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom(U) of the Son(V) he loves.(W) 14 In him we have redemption,[f] the forgiveness of sins.

John 6:30-33

30 “What sign, then, are you going to do so that we may see and believe you?” they asked. “What are you going to perform? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna(A) in the wilderness,(B) just as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.[a](C)

32 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, Moses(D) didn’t give you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

John 6:48-51

48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna(A) in the wilderness,(B) and they died. 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that anyone may eat of it and not die.(C) 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live(D) forever.(E) The bread that I will give for the life(F) of the world is my flesh.”(G)
