¹² Babes, I write to you because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. ¹³ I write to you fathers because you know him who was from the beginning. I write to you young men because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you little children because you know the Father. ¹⁴ I write to you fathers because you know him who was from the beginning. I write to you young men because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome that wicked one.

¹⁵ See that you love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of goods) is not of the Father, but of the world. ¹⁷ And the world is vanishing away, and the desires of it. But he who fulfils the will of God endures forever.

⁴¹ The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am that bread that has come down from heaven. ⁴² And they said, Is this not Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that he says, I came down from heaven?

⁴³ Jesus answered and said to them, Do not murmur between yourselves. ⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who has sent me draws him. And I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets that they will all be taught by God. Everyone therefore who has heard and has learned from the Father, comes to me. ⁴⁶ Not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is of God; the same has seen the Father.

⁴⁷ Truly truly I say to you, he who believes on me has everlasting life.
