Psalm 97-98

The Lord’s Power and Dominion.

97 (A)The Lord [a]reigns, let the (B)earth rejoice;
Let the many [b](C)islands be glad.
(D)Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;
(E)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
(F)Fire goes before Him
And (G)burns up His adversaries round about.
His (H)lightnings lit up the world;
The earth saw and (I)trembled.
The mountains (J)melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the (K)Lord of the whole earth.
The (L)heavens declare His righteousness,
And (M)all the peoples have seen His glory.

Let all those be ashamed who serve (N)graven images,
Who boast themselves of (O)idols;
[c](P)Worship Him, all you [d]gods.
Zion [e]heard this and (Q)was glad,
And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced
Because of Your judgments, O Lord.
For You are the Lord (R)Most High over all the earth;
You are exalted far (S)above all [f]gods.

10 (T)Hate evil, you who love the Lord,
Who (U)preserves the souls of His godly ones;
He (V)delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (W)Light is sown like seed for the righteous
And (X)gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Be (Y)glad in the Lord, you righteous ones,
And (Z)give thanks [g]to His holy name.

A Call to Praise the Lord for His Righteousness.

A Psalm.

98 O sing to the Lord a (AA)new song,
For He has done (AB)wonderful things,
His (AC)right hand and His (AD)holy arm have [h]gained the victory for Him.
(AE)The Lord has made known His salvation;
He has (AF)revealed His [i]righteousness in the sight of the nations.
He has (AG)remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
(AH)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

(AI)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
(AJ)Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
Sing praises to the Lord with the (AK)lyre,
With the lyre and the [j](AL)sound of melody.
With (AM)trumpets and the sound of the horn
(AN)Shout joyfully before (AO)the King, the Lord.

Let the (AP)sea roar and [k]all it contains,
The (AQ)world and those who dwell in it.
Let the (AR)rivers clap their hands,
Let the (AS)mountains sing together for joy
Before the Lord, for He is coming to (AT)judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And (AU)the peoples with [l]equity.

Proverbs 8:22-30

22 “The Lord possessed me (A)at the beginning of His way,
Before His works [a]of old.
23 “From everlasting I was [b](B)established,
From the beginning, (C)from the earliest times of the earth.
24 “When there were no (D)depths I was [c]brought forth,
When there were no springs abounding with water.
25 (E)Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills I was [d]brought forth;
26 While He had not yet made the earth and the [e]fields,
Nor the first dust of the world.
27 “When He (F)established the heavens, I was there,
When (G)He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became [f]fixed,
29 When (H)He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not transgress His [g]command,
When He marked out (I)the foundations of the earth;
30 Then (J)I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was daily His delight,
[h]Rejoicing always before Him,

John 13:20-35

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, (A)he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

21 When Jesus had said this, He (B)became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that (C)one of you will [a]betray Me.” 22 The disciples began looking at one another, (D)at a loss to know of which one He was speaking. 23 There was reclining on (E)Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, (F)whom Jesus loved. 24 So Simon Peter *gestured to him, and *said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.” 25 He, (G)leaning back thus on Jesus’ bosom, *said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus then *answered, “That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He *took and *gave it to Judas, (H)the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 After the morsel, (I)Satan then (J)entered into him. Therefore Jesus *said to him, “What you do, do quickly.” 28 Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him. 29 For some were supposing, because Judas (K)had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we have need of (L)for the feast”; or else, that he should (M)give something to the poor. 30 So after receiving the morsel he went out immediately; and (N)it was night.

31 Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus *said, “Now [b]is (O)the Son of Man (P)glorified, and (Q)God [c]is glorified in Him; 32 [d]if God is glorified in Him, (R)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. 33 (S)Little children, I am with you (T)a little while longer. (U)You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 A (V)new commandment I give to you, (W)that you love one another, (X)even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 (Y)By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Psalm 145

The Lord Extolled for His Goodness.

A Psalm of Praise, of David.

145 I will (A)extol You, (B)my God, O King,
And I will (C)bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will (D)praise Your name forever and ever.
(E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His (F)greatness is unsearchable.
One (G)generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
On the (H)glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty
And (I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
Men shall speak of the [b]power of Your (J)awesome acts,
And I will (K)tell of Your greatness.
They shall [c]eagerly utter the memory of Your (L)abundant goodness
And will (M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

The Lord is (N)gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
The Lord is (O)good to all,
And His (P)mercies are over all His works.
10 (Q)All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord,
And Your (R)godly ones shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the (S)glory of Your kingdom
And talk of Your power;
12 To (T)make known to the sons of men [d]Your mighty acts
And the (U)glory of the majesty of [e]Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is [f]an (V)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 The Lord (W)sustains all who fall
And (X)raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all [g]look to You,
And You (Y)give them their food in due time.
16 You (Z)open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is (AA)righteous in all His ways
And kind in all His deeds.
18 The Lord is (AB)near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him (AC)in truth.
19 He will (AD)fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also (AE)hear their cry and will save them.
20 The Lord (AF)keeps all who love Him,
But all the (AG)wicked He will destroy.
21 My (AH)mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And (AI)all flesh will (AJ)bless His holy name forever and ever.

1 John 5:1-12

Overcoming the World

(A)Whoever believes that Jesus is the [a]Christ is [b](B)born of God, and whoever loves the [c]Father (C)loves the child [d]born of Him. (D)By this we know that (E)we love the children of God, when we love God and [e]observe His commandments. For (F)this is the love of God, that we (G)keep His commandments; and (H)His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is [f](I)born of God (J)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who (K)believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is the One who came (L)by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not [g]with the water only, but [h]with the water and [i]with the blood. It is (M)the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are (N)three that testify: [j]the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are [k]in agreement. (O)If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that (P)He has testified concerning His Son. 10 The one who believes in the Son of God (Q)has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has (R)made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us (S)eternal life, and (T)this life is in His Son. 12 (U)He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
