101 1 David describeth what government he will observe in his house and kingdom. 5 He will punish and correct, by rooting forth the wicked, 6 and cherishing the godly persons.
A Psalm of David.
1 I will [a]sing mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.
2 I will do wisely in the perfect way, [b]till thou comest to me, I will walk in the uprightness of mine heart in the midst of my house.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate [c]the work of them that fall away: it shall not cleave unto me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me; I will know none evil.
5 Him that privily [d]slandereth his neighbor, will I destroy: him that hath a proud look and high heart, I cannot suffer.
6 Mine eyes shall be unto the [e]faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7 There shall no deceitful person dwell within my house: he that telleth lies, shall not remain in my sight.
8 [f]Betimes will I destroy all the wicked of the land that I may cut off all the workers of iniquity from the City of the Lord.
109 1 David being falsely accused by flatterers unto Saul, prayeth God to help him, and to destroy his enemies. 8 And under them he speaketh of Judas the traitor unto Jesus Christ, and of all the like enemies of the children of God: 27 And desireth so to be delivered, that his enemies may know the work to be of God. 30 Then doth he promise to give praise unto God.
To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David.
1 Hold not thy tongue, O God of my [a]praise.
2 For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth full of deceit are opened upon me: they have spoken to me with a lying tongue.
3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.
4 For my friendship they were my adversaries, [b]but I gave myself to prayer.
5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.
6 [c]Set thou the wicked over him, and let the adversary stand at his right hand.
7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned, and let his [d]prayer be turned into sin.
8 Let his days be few, and let another take his [e]charge.
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10 Let his children be vagabonds, and beg and seek bread, coming out of their places destroyed.
11 Let [f]the extortioner catch all that he hath, and let the strangers spoil his labor.
12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to show mercy upon his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be destroyed, and in the generation following, let their name be put out.
14 [g]Let the iniquity of his fathers be had in remembrance with the Lord: and let not the sin of his mother be done away.
15 But let them always be before the Lord, that he may cut off their memorial from the earth.
16 Because [h]he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the afflicted and poor man, and the sorrowful hearted to slay him.
17 As he loved cursing, [i]so shall it come unto him, and as he loved not blessing, so shall it be far from him.
18 As he clothed himself with cursing like a raiment, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
19 Let it be unto him as a garment to cover him, and for a girdle, wherewith he shall be always girded.
20 Let this be the reward of mine adversary [j]from the Lord, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
21 But thou, O Lord my God, deal with me according unto thy [k]Name: deliver me, (for thy mercy is good)
22 Because I am poor and needy, and mine heart is wounded within me.
23 I depart like the shadow that declineth, and am shaken off as the [l]grasshopper.
24 My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh [m]hath lost all fatness.
25 I became also a rebuke unto them: they that looked upon me, shaked their heads.
26 Help me, O Lord my God: [n]save me according to thy mercy.
27 And they shall know that this is thine hand, and that thou, Lord, hast done it.
28 Though [o]they curse, yet thou wilt bless: they shall arise and be confounded, but thy servant shall rejoice.
29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their confusion as with a cloak.
30 I will give thanks unto the Lord greatly with my [p]mouth, and praise him among the multitude.

121 I have executed judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressor.
122 [a]Answer for thy servant in that which is good, and let not the proud oppress me.
123 Mine eyes have failed in waiting for thy salvation, and for thy just promise.
124 Deal with thy [b]servant according to thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
125 I am thy servant: grant me therefore understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
126 It is [c]time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have destroyed thy Law.
127 Therefore love I thy commandments above gold, yea, above most fine gold.
128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts most just, and hate all false [d]ways.

129 Thy testimonies are [e]wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
130 The entrance into thy [f]words showeth light, and giveth understanding to the simple.
131 I opened my mouth, and [g]panted, because I loved thy commandments.
132 Look upon me and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy Name.
133 Direct my steps in thy word, and let none iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Deliver me from the oppression of men, and I will keep thy precepts.
135 Show the light of thy countenance upon thy servant, and teach me thy statute.
136 Mine eyes gush [h]out with rivers of water, because they keep not thy Law.

137 Righteous art thou, O Lord, and just are thy judgments.
138 Thou hast commanded [i]justice by thy testimonies and truth especially.
139 (A)My zeal hath even consumed me: because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
140 Thy word is proved [j]most pure, and thy servant loveth it.
141 I am [k]small and despised: yet do I not forget thy precepts.
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy Law is truth.
143 Trouble and anguish are come upon me: yet are the commandments my delight.
144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: grant me understanding, and I shall [l]live.
9 ¶ (A)And in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, (which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel) Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
10 And after three years they took it, even in the sixth year of Hezekiah: that is, (B)the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel was Samaria taken.
11 Then the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor, by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
12 Because they would not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed his covenant: that is, all that Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded, and would neither obey nor do them.
13 ¶ (C)Moreover, in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the strong cities of Judah, and took them.
14 Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent unto the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, [a]I have offended: depart from me, and what thou layest upon me, I will bear it. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.
15 Therefore Hezekiah gave all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
16 At the same season did Hezekiah pull off the plates of the doors of the Temple of the Lord, and the pillars (which the said Hezekiah king of Judah had covered over) and gave them to the king of Assyria.
17 ¶ And the king of Assyria sent [b]Tartan, and Rabsaris, and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up, and came to Jerusalem, and when they were come up, they stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is by the path of the fuller’s field,
18 And called to the king. Then came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was steward of the house, and Shebna the chancellor, and Joah the son of Asaph the [c]recorder.
19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Tell ye Hezekiah, I pray you, Thus saith the great king, even the great king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
20 Thou thinkest, Surely I have [d]eloquence, [e]but counsel and strength are for the war. On whom then doest thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
21 Lo, thou trustest now in this broken staff of reed, to wit, on [f]Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the Lord our God, is not that he whose high places, and whose altars Hezekiah hath [g]taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
23 Now therefore give [h]hostages to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able to set riders upon them.
24 For how canst thou despise any captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?
25 Am I now come up without the [i]Lord to this place, to destroy it? the Lord said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
8 1 From this place unto the end of the tenth Chapter, he willeth them not to be at the Gentiles’ profane banquets. 13 He restraineth the abuse of Christian liberty, 11 and showeth that knowledge must be tempered with charity.
1 And as [a]touching things sacrificed unto idols, we know that we [b]all have knowledge: knowledge [c]puffeth up, but love [d]edifieth.
2 Now, if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing, yet as he ought to know.
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4 [e]Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed unto [f]idols, we know that an idol is [g]nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven, or in earth (as there be many gods, and many lords.)
6 Yet unto us there is but one God, which is that Father, [h]of whom are all things, and we [i]in him, and (A)[j]one Lord Jesus Christ, [k]by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 [l]But every man hath not that knowledge: for [m]many having [n]conscience of the idol, until this hour, eat as a thing sacrificed unto the idol, and so their conscience being weak, is defiled.
8 [o]But meat maketh us not acceptable to God, for neither if we eat, have we the more: neither if we eat not, have we the less.
9 But take heed lest by any means this power of yours be an occasion of falling, to them that are weak.
10 [p]For if any man see thee which hast knowledge, sit at table in the idols’ temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak, be boldened, to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols?
11 [q]And through thy knowledge shall the (B)weak brother perish, for whom Christ died.
12 [r]Now when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 (C)[s]Wherefore if meat offend my brother, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, that I may not offend my brother.
13 ¶ (A)[a]Enter in at the strait gate: for it is the wide gate, and broad way that leadeth to destruction: and many there be which go in thereat.
14 Because [b]the gate is strait, and the way narrow that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 ¶ [c]Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. (B)Do men gather grapes of thorns? or figs of thistles?
17 So every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 (C)Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 ¶ [d]Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, (D)but he that doeth my Father’s will which is in heaven.
