Psalm 116

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

116 (A)I love the Lord, because He (B)hears
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has (C)inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.
The (D)cords of death encompassed me
And the [a]terrors of [b]Sheol [c]came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow.
Then (E)I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I beseech You, [d](F)save my life!”

(G)Gracious is the Lord, and (H)righteous;
Yes, our God is (I)compassionate.
The Lord preserves (J)the simple;
I was (K)brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your (L)rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has (M)dealt bountifully with you.
For You have (N)rescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
My feet from stumbling.
I shall walk before the Lord
In the [e](O)land of the living.
10 I (P)believed when I said,
“I am (Q)greatly afflicted.”
11 I (R)said in my alarm,
(S)All men are liars.”

12 What shall I (T)render to the Lord
For all His (U)benefits [f]toward me?
13 I shall lift up the (V)cup of salvation
And (W)call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I shall (X)pay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be (Y)in the presence of all His people.
15 (Z)Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His godly ones.
16 O Lord, [g]surely I am (AA)Your servant,
I am Your servant, the (AB)son of Your handmaid,
You have (AC)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (AD)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (AE)call upon the name of the Lord.
18 I shall (AF)pay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (AG)courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O (AH)Jerusalem.
[h]Praise [i]the Lord!

Zephaniah 3:14-20

14 Shout for joy, O daughter of Zion!
(A)Shout in triumph, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has taken away (B)His judgments against you,
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is (C)in your midst;
You will (D)fear disaster no more.
16 (E)In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
(F)Do not be afraid, O Zion;
(G)Do not let your hands fall limp.
17 “The Lord your God is (H)in your midst,
A [a](I)victorious warrior.
He will (J)exult over you with joy,
He will [b]be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
18 “I will gather those who (K)grieve about the appointed feasts—
They [c]came from you, O Zion;
The reproach of exile is a burden on [d]them.
19 “Behold, I am going to deal at that time
With all your (L)oppressors,
I will save the (M)lame
And gather the outcast,
And I will turn their (N)shame into (O)praise and renown
In all the earth.
20 “At that time I will (P)bring you in,
Even at the time when I gather you together;
Indeed, I will give you (Q)renown and praise
Among all the peoples of the earth,
When I (R)restore your fortunes before your eyes,”
Says the Lord.

Mark 15:47-16:7

47 (A)Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were looking on to see where He was laid.

The Resurrection

16 (B)When the Sabbath was over, (C)Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of [a]James, and Salome, (D)bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him. Very early on the first day of the week, they *came to the tomb when the sun had risen. They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away (E)the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” Looking up, they *saw that the stone had been rolled away, [b]although it was extremely large. (F)Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they (G)were amazed. And he *said to them, “(H)Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the (I)Nazarene, who has been crucified. (J)He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘(K)He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’”

Psalm 30

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David.

30 I will (A)extol You, O Lord, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies rejoice over me.
O Lord my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
O Lord, You have (F)brought up my soul from [a]Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [b]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
(H)Sing praise to the Lord, you (I)His godly ones,
And (J)give thanks to His holy [c](K)name.
For (L)His anger is but for a moment,
His (M)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (N)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (O)never be moved.”
O Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (P)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
To You, O Lord, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my blood, if I (Q)go down to the pit?
Will the (R)dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?

10 (S)Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me;
O Lord, be my (T)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (U)my mourning into dancing;
You have (V)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (W)gladness,
12 That my [d](X)soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will (Y)give thanks to You forever.

Psalm 149

Israel Invoked to Praise the Lord.

149 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a (A)new song,
And His praise (B)in the congregation of the godly ones.
Let Israel be glad in (C)his Maker;
Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their (D)King.
Let them praise His name with (E)dancing;
Let them sing praises to Him with (F)timbrel and lyre.
For the Lord (G)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (H)beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

Let the (I)godly ones exult in glory;
Let them (J)sing for joy on their beds.
Let the (K)high praises of God be in their [c]mouth,
And a (L)two-edged (M)sword in their hand,
To (N)execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,
To bind their kings (O)with chains
And their (P)nobles with fetters of iron,
To (Q)execute on them the judgment written;
This is an (R)honor for all His godly ones.
[d]Praise [e]the Lord!

2 Corinthians 1:3-7

(A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and (B)God of all comfort, who (C)comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in [a]any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just (D)as the sufferings of Christ are [b]ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. But if we are afflicted, it is (E)for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that (F)as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.
