Psalm 136

Thanks for the Lord’s Goodness to Israel.

136 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for (B)He is good,
For (C)His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Give thanks to the (D)God of gods,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Give thanks to the (E)Lord of lords,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who (F)alone does great [a]wonders,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
To Him who (G)made the heavens [b](H)with skill,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
To Him who (I)spread out the earth above the waters,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
To Him who (J)made the great lights,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
The (K)sun to rule [c]by day,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
The (L)moon and stars to rule [d]by night,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

10 To Him who (M)smote [e]the Egyptians in their firstborn,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
11 And (N)brought Israel out from their midst,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
12 With a (O)strong hand and an (P)outstretched arm,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
13 To Him who (Q)divided the [f]Red Sea [g]asunder,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
14 And (R)made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
15 But (S)He [h]overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the [i]Red Sea,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
16 To Him who (T)led His people through the wilderness,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
17 To Him who (U)smote great kings,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
18 And (V)slew [j]mighty kings,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
19 (W)Sihon, king of the Amorites,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
20 And (X)Og, king of Bashan,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
21 And (Y)gave their land as a heritage,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
22 Even a heritage to Israel His (Z)servant,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

23 Who (AA)remembered us in our low estate,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
24 And has (AB)rescued us from our adversaries,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
25 Who (AC)gives food to all flesh,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
26 Give thanks to the (AD)God of heaven,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Psalm 118

Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Saving Goodness.

118 (A)Give thanks to the Lord, for (B)He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Oh let (C)Israel say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Oh let the (D)house of Aaron say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Oh let those (E)who [a]fear the Lord say,
“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

From my (F)distress I called upon [b]the Lord;
[c]The Lord answered me and (G)set me in a large place.
The Lord is (H)for me; I will (I)not fear;
(J)What can man do to me?
The Lord is for me (K)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (L)look with satisfaction on those who hate me.
It is (M)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in man.
It is (N)better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in princes.

10 All nations (O)surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will surely (P)cut them off.
11 They (Q)surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me;
In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
12 They surrounded me (R)like bees;
They were extinguished as a (S)fire of thorns;
In the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
13 You (T)pushed me violently so that I [d]was falling,
But the Lord (U)helped me.
14 [e](V)The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become (W)my salvation.

15 The sound of (X)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (Y)right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16 The (Z)right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
17 I (AA)will not die, but live,
And (AB)tell of the works of [f]the Lord.
18 [g]The Lord has (AC)disciplined me severely,
But He has (AD)not given me over to death.

19 (AE)Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to [h]the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord;
The (AF)righteous will enter through it.
21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have (AG)answered me,
And You have (AH)become my salvation.

22 The (AI)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief corner stone.
23 This is [i]the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us (AJ)rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Lord, (AK)do save, we beseech You;
O Lord, we beseech You, do send (AL)prosperity!
26 (AM)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
We have (AN)blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 (AO)The Lord is God, and He has given us (AP)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice with cords [j]to the (AQ)horns of the altar.
28 (AR)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, (AS)I extol You.
29 (AT)Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Daniel 12:1-4

The Time of the End

12 “Now at that time (A)Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a (B)time of distress (C)such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the (D)book, will be rescued. (E)Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, (F)these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting [a]contempt. [b]Those who have (G)insight will (H)shine brightly like the brightness of the [c]expanse of heaven, and those who (I)lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. But as for you, Daniel, (J)conceal these words and (K)seal up the book until the (L)end of time; (M)many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”

Daniel 12:13

13 But as for you, go your way to the [a]end; then you will enter into (A)rest and rise again for your (B)allotted portion at the end of the [b]age.”

Acts 4:1-12

Peter and John Arrested

As they were speaking to the people, the priests and (A)the captain of the temple guard and (B)the Sadducees (C)came up to them, being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming [a](D)in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them and (E)put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening. But many of those who had heard the [b]message believed; and (F)the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

On the next day, their (G)rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; and (H)Annas the high priest was there, and (I)Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent. When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?” Then Peter, [c](J)filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “[d](K)Rulers and elders of the people, if we are [e]on trial today for (L)a benefit done to a sick man, [f]as to how this man has been made well, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that [g](M)by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom (N)God raised from the dead—[h]by [i]this name this man stands here before you in good health. 11 [j](O)He is the (P)stone which was (Q)rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone. 12 And there is salvation in (R)no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

John 16:1-15

Jesus’ Warning

16 (A)These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from (B)stumbling. [a]They will (C)make you outcasts from the synagogue, but (D)an hour is coming for everyone (E)who kills you to think that he is offering service to God. These things they will do (F)because they have not known the Father or Me. But these things I have spoken to you, (G)so that when their hour comes, you [b]may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you (H)at the beginning, because I was with you.

The Holy Spirit Promised

“But now (I)I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘(J)Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, (K)sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [c](L)Helper will not come to you; but if I go, (M)I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, (N)because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning (O)righteousness, because (P)I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 (Q)and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when He, (R)the Spirit of truth, comes, He will (S)guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will (T)glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 (U)All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
