Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights.(A)
Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his heavenly armies.(B)
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.(C)
Praise him, highest heavens,

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded, and they were created.(E)
He set them in position forever and ever;
he gave an order that will never pass away.(F)

Praise the Lord from the earth,
all sea monsters and ocean depths,(G)
lightning[a] and hail, snow and cloud,
stormy wind that executes his command,(H)
mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,(I)
10 wild animals and all cattle,
creatures that crawl and flying birds,(J)
11 kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all judges of the earth,(K)
12 young men as well as young women,
old and young together.(L)
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted.
His majesty covers heaven and earth.(M)
14 He has raised up a horn for his people,
resulting in praise to all his faithful ones,
to the Israelites, the people close to him.(N)
Hallelujah!

Psalm 91-92

Psalm 91

The Protection of the Most High

The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.(A)

I will say[a] concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust:(B)
He himself will rescue you from the bird trap,(C)
from the destructive plague.
He will cover you with his feathers;
you will take refuge under his wings.(D)
His faithfulness will be a protective shield.(E)
You will not fear the terror of the night,
the arrow that flies by day,(F)
the plague that stalks in darkness,
or the pestilence that ravages at noon.(G)
Though a thousand fall at your side
and ten thousand at your right hand,
the pestilence will not reach you.(H)
You will only see it with your eyes
and witness the punishment of the wicked.(I)

Because you have made the Lord—my refuge,(J)
the Most High—your dwelling place,(K)
10 no harm will come to you;
no plague will come near your tent.(L)
11 For he will give his angels orders concerning you,
to protect you in all your ways.(M)
12 They will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.(N)
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the young lion and the serpent.(O)

14 Because he has his heart set on me,
I will deliver him;
I will protect him because he knows my name.(P)
15 When he calls out to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble.
I will rescue him and give him honor.(Q)
16 I will satisfy him with a long life(R)
and show him my salvation.(S)

Psalm 92

God’s Love and Faithfulness

A psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praise to your name, Most High,(T)
to declare your faithful love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,(U)
with a ten-stringed harp[b]
and the music of a lyre.(V)

For you have made me rejoice, Lord,
by what you have done;
I will shout for joy
because of the works of your hands.(W)
How magnificent are your works, Lord,
how profound your thoughts!(X)
A stupid person does not know,
a fool does not understand this:(Y)
though the wicked sprout like grass(Z)
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be eternally destroyed.(AA)
But you, Lord, are exalted forever.(AB)
For indeed, Lord, your enemies—
indeed, your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.(AC)
10 You have lifted up my horn(AD)
like that of a wild ox;
I have been anointed[c] with the finest oil.(AE)
11 My eyes look at my enemies;
when evildoers rise against me,
my ears hear them.(AF)

12 The righteous thrive like a palm tree
and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon.(AG)
13 Planted in the house of the Lord,
they thrive in the courts of our God.(AH)
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
healthy and green,(AI)
15 to declare, “The Lord is just;
he is my rock,
and there is no unrighteousness in him.”(AJ)

Isaiah 65:13-16

13 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:

“Look! My servants will eat,
but you will be hungry.
Look! My servants will drink,
but you will be thirsty.
Look! My servants will rejoice,
but you will be put to shame.
14 Look! My servants will shout for joy from a glad heart,
but you will cry out from an anguished heart,
and you will lament out of a broken spirit.
15 You will leave your name behind
as a curse for my chosen ones,(A)
and the Lord God will kill you;
but he will give his servants another name.(B)
16 Whoever asks for a blessing in the land
will ask for a blessing by the God of truth,(C)
and whoever swears in the land
will swear by the God of truth.
For the former troubles will be forgotten
and hidden from my sight.

Revelation 3:7-13

The Letter to Philadelphia

“Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: Thus says the Holy One, the true one,(A) the one who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and who closes and no one opens: (B) I know your works. Look, I have placed before you an open door that no one can close because you have but little power; yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.(C) Note this: I will make those from the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews and are not, but are lying—I will make them come and bow down at your feet,(D) and they will know that I have loved you.(E) 10 Because you have kept my command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing(F) that is going to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.(G) 11 I am coming soon.(H) Hold on to what you have,(I) so that no one takes your crown.(J)

12 “The one who conquers I will make a pillar(K) in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God—the new Jerusalem,(L) which comes down out of heaven from my God—and my new name.(M)

13 “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

John 6:15-27

15 Therefore, when Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king,(A) he withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

The Fifth Sign: Walking on Water

16 When(B) evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum.(C) Darkness had already set in, but Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 A high wind arose, and the sea began to churn. 19 After they had rowed about three or four miles,[a] they saw Jesus walking on the sea. He was coming near the boat, and they were afraid. 20 But he said to them, “It is I.[b](D) Don’t be afraid.” 21 Then they were willing to take him on board, and at once the boat was at the shore where they were heading.

The Bread of Life

22 The next day, the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea saw there had been only one boat.[c](E) They also saw that Jesus had not boarded the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone off alone. 23 Some boats from Tiberias(F) came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus. 25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi,(G) when did you get here?”

26 Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw[d] the signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled. 27 Don’t work for the food that perishes(H) but for the food that lasts for eternal life,(I) which the Son of Man(J) will give you, because God the Father(K) has set his seal of approval on him.”
