Book of Common Prayer
KOPH.
145 ¶ I cried with my whole heart; answer me, O LORD, and I will keep thy statutes.
146 I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.
147 ¶ I arose before the dawning of the morning and cried: I waited in thy word.
148 My eyes anticipate the night watches that I might meditate in thy spoken word.
149 ¶ Hear my voice according to thy mercy; O LORD, cause me to live according to thy judgment.
150 ¶ Those that persecute me draw near unto evil; they have strayed from thy law.
151 Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
152 ¶ Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
RESH.
153 ¶ Consider my affliction and deliver me; for I have not forgotten thy law.
154 Plead my cause and redeem me; quicken me according to thy spoken word.
155 ¶ Saving health is far from the wicked, for they do not seek thy statutes.
156 ¶ Many are thy tender mercies, O LORD: cause me to live according to thy judgments.
157 ¶ Many are my persecutors and my enemies; yet I do not deviate from thy testimonies.
158 ¶ I beheld the transgressors and was grieved because they did not keep thy words.
159 ¶ Consider, O LORD, that I love thy precepts; cause me to live according to thy mercy.
160 ¶ The beginning of thy word is truth, and every one of the judgments of thy righteousness is eternal.
SCHIN.
161 ¶ Princes have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart stands in awe of thy words.
162 ¶ I rejoice at thy spoken word, as one that finds great spoil.
163 ¶ I hate and abhor lying, but I love thy law.
164 ¶ Seven times a day do I praise thee because of the judgments of thy righteousness.
165 ¶ Those who love thy law have great peace, and nothing shall cause them to stumble.
166 ¶ LORD, I have waited for thy saving health and done thy commandments.
167 ¶ My soul has kept thy testimonies, and I have loved them exceedingly.
168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies, for all my ways are before thee.
TAU.
169 ¶ Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD; give me understanding according to thy word.
170 Let my supplication come before thee; deliver me according to thy spoken word.
171 ¶ My lips shall overflow with praise when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
172 ¶ My tongue shall speak thy words; for all thy commandments are righteousness.
173 ¶ Let thine hand help me, for I have chosen thy precepts.
174 I have longed for thy saving health, O LORD, and thy law is my delight.
175 ¶ Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee, and let thy judgments help me.
176 ¶ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy slave; for I have not forgotten thy commandments.
A Song of degrees.
1 ¶ Blessed is every one that fears the LORD, that walks in his ways.
2 When thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands; happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the LORD.
5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion, and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children and peace upon Israel.
A Song of degrees.
1 ¶ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
2 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.
4 The LORD is righteous; he has cut asunder the cords of the wicked.
5 ¶ All those that hate Zion shall all be confounded and turned back.
6 They shall be as the grass upon the housetops, which withers before it grows up,
7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand nor he that binds sheaves his bosom.
8 Neither did those who go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.
A Song of degrees.
1 ¶ Out of the depths I cry unto thee, O LORD.
2 Lord, hear my voice; let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3 If thou, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall endure?
4 Therefore there is forgiveness close to thee, that thou may be feared.
5 ¶ I have waited for the LORD, my soul has waited, and for his word I have waited.
6 My soul has waited for the Lord more than those that watch for the morning: I say, more than those that watch for the morning.
7 Let Israel wait for the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy and plenteous redemption close to him.
8 And he shall ransom Israel from all his sins.
15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the Gentiles drink continually; they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
17 ¶ But in Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
19 And those of the south shall possess the mount of Esau and the plains of the Palestinians, and they shall also possess the fields of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
20 And the captives of this host of the sons of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who shall be in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 And saviours shall come up unto Mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.
2 ¶ Having therefore left all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envies and all murmurings,
2 as newborn babes, desire the rational milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby in health;
3 if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is benevolent;
4 ¶ coming unto whom (is the living Stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious),
5 ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, well pleasing to God by Jesus, the Christ.
6 Therefore, also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion the chief corner stone, chosen, precious; and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you, therefore, who believe he is precious; but unto those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, even to those who stumble at the word, not obeying in that for which they were ordained.
9 But ye are the chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, that ye should show forth the virtues of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
10 Ye who in the time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, who in the time past had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
23 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is difficult that a rich man shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 But his disciples hearing these things were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
27 Then Peter answered and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life.
30 But many that are first shall be last, and many of the last shall be first.
