Psalm 140

140 Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man. Preserve me from the cruel man.

Who imagine evil things in their heart and make war continually.

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the cruel man, who intends to cause my steps to slide.

The proud have laid a snare for me, and spread a net with cords in my pathway, and set traps for me. Selah.

I said to the LORD, “You are my God. Hear, O LORD, the voice of my prayers.

“O LORD God, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head on the day of battle.

“Do not let the wicked have his desire, O LORD. Do not perform his wicked thought, lest they be proud. Selah.

“The chief of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips come upon them.

10 “Let coals fall upon them. Let him cast them into the fire, into the deep pits, so that they do not rise.

11 “The backbiter shall not be established upon the Earth. Evil shall hunt the cruel man to destruction.”

12 I know that the LORD will avenge the afflicted and judge the poor.

13 Surely, the righteous shall praise Your Name; and the just shall dwell in Your presence. A Psalm of David

Psalm 142

142 I cried to the LORD with my voice! With my voice I prayed to the LORD.

I poured out my meditation before Him, declared my affection in His presence.

Though my spirit was overwhelmed in me, You still knew my path. They have secretly laid a snare for me in the way wherein I walk.

I looked on my right hand and beheld, but there was no one who knew me. All refuge failed me. No one cared for my soul.

I cried to You, O LORD, and said, “You are my Hope, my portion in the land of the living.

“Listen to my cry, for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

“Bring my soul out of prison, so that I may praise Your Name. The righteous shall surround me when You are beneficial to me.” A Psalm of David

Psalm 141

141 O LORD, I call upon You! Hurry to me! Hear my voice when I cry to You!

Let my prayer be directed in Your sight as incense, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.

Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Do not incline my heart to evil, so that I would commit wicked works with those who work iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies.

Let the righteous strike me; for that is a benefit. And let him reprove me; it shall be as a precious oil that shall not break my head. For after a while, I shall even pray in their miseries.

When their judges are cast down in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

Our bones lie scattered at the grave’s mouth, as he who hews or digs in the earth.

But my eyes look to You, O LORD God. In You is my trust. Do not leave my soul destitute.

Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity.

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape. A Psalm of David, to give instruction; and a prayer when he was in the cave

Psalm 143

143 Hear my prayer, O LORD! Listen to my supplication. Answer me in Your truth and in Your righteousness.

(And do not enter into judgment with Your servant; for in Your sight shall no one who lives be justified.)

For the enemy has persecuted my soul. He has stricken my life down to the Earth. He has laid me in the darkness, as those who have long been dead.

And my spirit was desolate in me; my heart within me was amazed.

I remember the time past. I meditate on all Your works. I meditate on the works of Your hands.

I stretch forth my hands to You. My soul desires You, as a thirsty land. Selah.

Hear me speedily, O LORD! My spirit fails. Do not hide Your face from me; or else I shall be like those who go down into the pit.

Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; for in You is my trust. Show me the way that I should walk in, for I lift up my soul to You.

Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies. I have hidden myself with You.

10 Teach me to do Your will; for You are my God. Let Your good Spirit lead me to the Land of Righteousness.

11 Quicken me, O LORD, for Your Name’s sake. Bring my soul out of trouble because of Your righteousness,

12 and slay my enemies because of Your mercy and destroy all those who oppress my soul; for I am Your servant. A Psalm of David

2 Kings 23:36-24:17

36 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign. And he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem. Also, his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

37 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

24 In his days, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came up. And Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Afterward, he turned and rebelled against him.

And the LORD sent bands of the Chaldeans against him, and bands of the Aramites, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the Ammonites. And he sent them against Judah, to destroy it, according to the Word of the LORD, which He spoke by His servants, the Prophets.

Surely by the Commandment of the LORD this came upon Judah, so that He might put them out of His sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did,

and for the innocent blood that he shed (for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood). Therefore, the LORD would not pardon it.

Concerning the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers. And Jehoiachin, his son, reigned in his place.

And the king of Egypt no longer came out of his land. For the king of Babylon had captured all that pertained to the king of Egypt, from the river of Egypt to the river Perath.

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign and reigned in Jerusalem for three months. Also, his mother’s name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.

10 In that time, the servants of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came up against Jerusalem. So the city was besieged.

11 And Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came against the city. And his servants besieged it.

12 Then Jehoiachin, the king of Judah, came out against the king of Babylon, he and his mother and his servants and his princes and his eunuchs. And the king of Babylon took him, in the eighth year of his reign.

13 And he carried away all the treasures of the House of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and broke all the vessels of gold which Solomon, king of Israel, had made in the Temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

14 And he carried away all of Jerusalem and all the princes and all the strong men of war (ten thousand into captivity) and all the workmen and cunning men. So no one remained except the poor people of the land.

15 And he carried Jehoiachin away into Babylon, and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his eunuchs. And he carried away the mighty of the land into captivity—from Jerusalem to Babylon—

16 and all the men of war (seven thousand) and carpenters and locksmiths (a thousand). All who were strong and apt for war the king of Babylon brought to Babylon as captives.

17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, his uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

1 Corinthians 12:12-26

12 For as the body is one yet has many members—and all the members of the body, though they be many, are one body—even so is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, whether slave or free - and have all been made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body is also not one member, but many.

15 If the foot would say, ‘Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear would say, ‘Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where then the hearing? And if the whole were hearing, where then the smelling?

18 But now, God has placed the members, every one of them in the body, at His own pleasure.

19 For if they were all one member, where is the body?

20 But indeed, there are now many members, yet one body.

21 Now the eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you.’ Nor again the head to the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’

22 Yea, but it is much rather those members of the body which seem to be weaker which are necessary.

23 And upon those members of the body which we think most dishonorable, we place more honor. And those of us who are indecent are more presentable.

24 For the presentable of us have no need. But God has blended the body together, and has given more honor to that which lacked,

25 lest there should be any division in the body. So that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 Therefore, if one member suffers, all suffer with it. If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Matthew 9:27-34

27 And as Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, “O son of David! Have mercy upon us!”

28 And when He had come into the house, the blind came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” And they said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

29 Then, He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith may it be done to you.”

30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly instructed them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”

31 But once they had left, they spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

32 And as they went out, behold, they brought to Him a mute man, possessed with a demon.

33 And after the demon had been cast out, the mute spoke. Then the multitude marveled, saying, “Such was never seen in Israel!”

34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons through the prince of demons.”
