Version
Psalm 37

A Psalm of David.

Aleph

¶ Do not be angry with the evildoers, neither be thou envious of the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass and wither as the green herb.

Beth

Wait in the LORD and do good; live in the land and uphold the truth.

In the same manner delight thyself in the LORD, and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.

Gimel

Turn thy way unto the LORD and wait in him, and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy uprightness as the noonday.

Daleth

¶ Be silent before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not be angry with him who prospers in his way, with the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

He

Cease from anger and forsake wrath: let not thy wrath in any wise cause you to become evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Vau

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Zain

12 The wicked plots against the just and gnashes upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.

He

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword and have bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy and to slay such as are of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bow shall be broken.

Tet

16 A little that a righteous man has is better than the many riches of the sinners.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.

Jod

18 The LORD knows the days of the perfect, and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Caph

20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD as the fattest of rams shall be consumed; as smoke they shall fade away.

Lamed

21 ¶ The wicked borrows and does not repay: but the righteous shows mercy and gives.

22 For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the earth, and those that are cursed of him shall be cut off.

Mem

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and he delights in his way.

24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

Nun

25 I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful and lends, and his seed is a blessing.

Samech

27 Depart from evil, and do good, and thou shalt live for evermore.

28 For the LORD loves uprightness and does not forsake his merciful ones; they are preserved for ever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

Ain

29 The righteous shall inherit the earth and live upon it for ever.

Pe

30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue brings forth judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; therefore none of his steps shall slide.

Tzaddi

32 The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him.

33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

Koph

34 ¶ Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Resh

35 I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found.

Schin

37 Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of each one of them is peace.

38 But the rebels were destroyed all together; the wicked were cut off in the end.

Tau

39 But the salvation of the righteous is the LORD; he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.

Isaiah 45:5-17

¶ I am the LORD, and there is no one else; there is no God beside me; I shall gird thee, though thou hast not known me

that it may be known from the rising of the sun and from where it goes down that there is no one beside me. I am the LORD, and there is no one else.

I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create evil: I am the LORD that does all this.

Release, ye heavens, from above, and the clouds shall pour down righteousness; let the earth open up, and let salvation and righteousness bear their fruit; let them produce fruit together; I the LORD have created it.

Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What doth thou make; thy work has no form?

10 Woe unto him that says unto his father, Why dost thou beget? or to the woman, Why hast thou brought forth?

11 ¶ Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come; inquire of me concerning my sons and concerning the work of my hands.

12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it, I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens and I have commanded all their host.

13 I have awakened him in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways; he shall build my city, and he shall loose my captives, not for price nor for bribes, saith the LORD of the hosts.

14 Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee; they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is no one else; there is none other beside God.

15 Verily thou art God, that thou might hide thyself; God of Israel, who saves.

16 They shall be ashamed and also confounded, all of them; all the makers of idols shall go forth ashamed.

17 Israel is saved in the LORD, eternal salvation; ye shall never be ashamed nor confounded through all ages.

Ephesians 5:15-33

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understanding of what the will of the Lord is.

18 And be not drunk with wine, in which there is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,

19 speaking among yourselves with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and praising the Lord in your hearts,

20 giving thanks always for all things unto the God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

21 ¶ submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the congregation, {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} and it is he who gives saving health to the body.

24 Therefore, as the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} is subject unto the Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} and gave himself for her,

26 that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,

27 that he might present her glorious for himself, a congregation, {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.

29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his congregation. {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}

30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the congregation. {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}

33 Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she reverences her husband.

Mark 4:21-34

21 ¶ And he also said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel or under the bed? and not to be set in the lampstand?

22 For there is nothing hid which shall not be manifested; nor secret which shall not be exposed.

23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

24 And he also said unto them, Take heed what ye hear; with the measure ye measure by, ye shall be measured by others, and unto you that hear shall more be added.

25 For he that has, to him shall be given; and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has.

26 He also said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground

27 and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring forth and grow up, he knows not how.

28 For the earth brings forth fruit of herself: first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear.

29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle because the harvest is come.

30 He also said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we compare it?

31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth;

32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs and shoots out great branches, so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

33 And with many such parables he spoke the word unto them as they were able to hear it.

34 But without a parable he did not speak unto them; and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
