Let the Children Come to Me

Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

  193. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
  194. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children,
  195. O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

  222. And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.
  223. I searched with my heart how to cheer my body with wine—my heart still guiding me with wisdom—and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the children of man to do under heaven during the few days of their life.
  224. I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.
  225. I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.
  226. For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity.
  227. If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life's good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.
  228. Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.
  229. This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
  230. For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.
  231. The Wickedness of Judah

    Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.
  232. Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged.
  233. The Day of the Lord

    For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
  234. Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
  235. Their bows will slaughter the young men; they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not pity children.
  236. The fortress will disappear from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Syria will be like the glory of the children of Israel, declares the Lord of hosts.
  237. In that day their strong cities will be like the deserted places of the wooded heights and the hilltops, which they deserted because of the children of Israel, and there will be desolation.
  238. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
  239. Do Not Go Down to Egypt

    “Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;
  240. For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the Lord;
  241. Turn to him from whom people have deeply revolted, O children of Israel.
  242. They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth.
  243. The living, the living, he thanks you, as I do this day; the father makes known to the children your faithfulness.
  244. Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him: “Ask me of things to come; will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands?
  245. Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children”:
  246. These two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day; the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the great power of your enchantments.
  247. The children of your bereavement will yet say in your ears: ‘The place is too narrow for me; make room for me to dwell in.’

  250. The Eternal Covenant of Peace

    “Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the Lord.
  251. All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.
  252. Whom are you mocking? Against whom do you open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, the offspring of deceit,
  253. you who burn with lust among the oaks, under every green tree, who slaughter your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?
  254. “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children's offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.”
  255. For the coastlands shall hope for me, the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your children from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of the Lord your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has made you beautiful.
  256. For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely.” And he became their Savior.
  257. They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord, and their descendants with them.
  258. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her children.
  259. “Therefore I still contend with you, declares the Lord, and with your children's children I will contend.
  260. In vain have I struck your children; they took no correction; your own sword devoured your prophets like a ravening lion.
  261. Return, O faithless children, declares the Lord; for I am your master; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
  262. “For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’—in doing evil! But how to do good they know not.”
  263. “How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me and have sworn by those who are no gods. When I fed them to the full, they committed adultery and trooped to the houses of whores.

  271. Their children shall be as they were of old, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.
  272. Thus says the Lord: “A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.”
  273. There is hope for your future, declares the Lord, and your children shall come back to their own country.
  274. In those days they shall no longer say: “‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.’
  275. You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts,
  276. great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
  277. For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth. The children of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the work of their hands, declares the Lord.
  278. because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah that they did to provoke me to anger—their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
  279. I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them.
  280. When all the captains of the forces in the open country and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land and had committed to him men, women, and children, those of the poorest of the land who had not been taken into exile to Babylon,
  281. Then Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces with him took from Mizpah all the rest of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, after he had struck down Gedaliah the son of Ahikam—soldiers, women, children, and eunuchs, whom Johanan brought back from Gibeon.
  282. the men, the women, the children, the princesses, and every person whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan; also Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah.
  283. At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels, the fathers look not back to their children, so feeble are their hands,
  284. But I have stripped Esau bare; I have uncovered his hiding places, and he is not able to conceal himself. His children are destroyed, and his brothers, and his neighbors; and he is no more.

  289. Look, O Lord, and see! With whom have you dealt thus? Should women eat the fruit of their womb, the children of their tender care? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

  296. Thus says the Lord God, Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your whorings with your lovers, and with all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children that you gave to them,
  297. You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.
  298. “What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge’?
  299. “And I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, nor defile yourselves with their idols.
  300. But the children rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes and were not careful to obey my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; they profaned my Sabbaths. “Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness.
  301. When you present your gifts and offer up your children in fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, declares the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you.
  302. For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. With their idols they have committed adultery, and they have even offered up to them for food the children whom they had borne to me.
  303. For when they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And behold, this is what they did in my house.
  304. All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to towering height or set their tops among the clouds, and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death, to the world below, among the children of man, with those who go down to the pit.
  305. I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer bereave them of children.
  306. Thus says the Lord God: Because they say to you, ‘You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’
  307. therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord God.
  308. They shall dwell in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children shall dwell there forever, and David my servant shall be their prince forever.
  309. You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the sojourners who reside among you and have had children among you. They shall be to you as native-born children of Israel. With you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
  310. and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them all—you are the head of gold.
  311. He was driven from among the children of mankind, and his mind was made like that of a beast, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, until he knew that the Most High God rules the kingdom of mankind and sets over it whom he will.
  312. And the king commanded, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and cast into the den of lions—they, their children, and their wives. And before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones in pieces.
  313. And behold, one in the likeness of the children of man touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, “O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength.
  314. Hosea's Wife and Children

    When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”
  315. Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God.”
  316. And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
  317. Upon her children also I will have no mercy, because they are children of whoredom.
  318. Hosea Redeems His Wife

    And the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.”
  319. For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or household gods.
  320. Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the Lord and to his goodness in the latter days.
  321. The Lord Accuses Israel

    Hear the word of the Lord, O children of Israel, for the Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land;
  322. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
  323. They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord; for they have borne alien children. Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.
  324. Even if they bring up children, I will bereave them till none is left. Woe to them when I depart from them!
  325. Ephraim, as I have seen, was like a young palm planted in a meadow; but Ephraim must lead his children out to slaughter.
  326. Ephraim is stricken; their root is dried up; they shall bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, I will put their beloved children to death.
  327. therefore the tumult of war shall arise among your people, and all your fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle; mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
  328. They shall go after the Lord; he will roar like a lion; when he roars, his children shall come trembling from the west;
  329. Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation.
  330. The vine dries up; the fig tree languishes. Pomegranate, palm, and apple, all the trees of the field are dried up, and gladness dries up from the children of man.
  331. gather the people. Consecrate the congregation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her chamber.
  332. “Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.
  333. Make yourselves bald and cut off your hair, for the children of your delight; make yourselves as bald as the eagle, for they shall go from you into exile.
  334. The women of my people you drive out from their delightful houses; from their young children you take away my splendor forever.
  335. A Remnant Shall Be Delivered

    Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man.
  336. Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in the Lord.
  337. Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and with their children they shall live and return.
  338. Robbing God

    “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
  339. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”
  340. Herod Kills the Children

    Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.
  341. “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
  342. And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
  343. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
  344. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death,
  345. “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,
  346. Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

    At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;
  347. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
  348. And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.”
  349. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
  350. and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
  351. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.
  352. Let the Children Come to Me

    Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people,
  353. but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
  354. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.
  355. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant,
  356. saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’
  357. Lament over Jerusalem

    “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
  358. And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
  359. “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter,
  360. And he said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.”
  361. But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.”
  362. Let the Children Come to Me

    And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
  363. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
  364. And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God!
  365. Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
  366. who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
  367. And brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death.
  368. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,
  369. and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”
  370. Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
  371. They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
  372. Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”
  373. Jesus Rejoices in the Father's Will

    In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
  374. and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?
  375. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
  376. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
  377. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
  378. Let the Children Come to Me

    Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
  379. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
  380. And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
  381. and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
  382. and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.
  383. Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children.
  384. and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died.
  385. But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
  386. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
  387. You Are of Your Father the Devil

  388. and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
  389. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’
  390. Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.”
  391. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
  392. “When he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.
  393. But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.
  394. this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, “‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’
  395. When our days there were ended, we departed and went on our journey, and they all, with wives and children, accompanied us until we were outside the city. And kneeling down on the beach, we prayed

  400. that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
  401. and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”
  402. This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
  403. And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,
  404. I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.
  405. For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.
  406. Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.

  414. Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.
  415. So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.
  416. among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

  418. Walk in Love

    Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

  420. Children and Parents

    Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
  421. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  422. that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
  423. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
  424. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
  425. But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children.
  426. For you know how, like a father with his children,
  427. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.
  428. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,

  432. So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander.
  433. if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.
  434. and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,
  435. And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.”
  436. Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
  437. If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
  438. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
  439. as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
  440. They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!
  441. Christ Our Advocate

    My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
  442. I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake.
  443. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father.
  444. Warning Concerning Antichrists

    Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.
  445. Children of God

    And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
  446. See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
  447. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
  448. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.
  449. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
  450. Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
  451. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
  452. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.
  453. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
  454. Greeting

  455. Walking in Truth and Love

    I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.
  456. The children of your elect sister greet you.
