Let the Children Come to Me

Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

  26. Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
  27. who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
  28. And brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death.
  29. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,
  30. and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”
  31. Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
  32. They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
  33. Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”
  34. Jesus Rejoices in the Father's Will

    In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
  35. and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?
  36. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

  47. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
  48. You Are of Your Father the Devil

  63. This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
  64. And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,
  65. I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

    Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

  95. and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,

  97. Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
  98. If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
  99. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
  100. as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
  101. They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!
  102. Christ Our Advocate

    My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

  113. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.

    I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.
