“When you have experienced all these things, both the blessings and the curses I have set before you, you will reflect upon them in all the nations where the Lord your God has banished you.

Complaints Reflect Suffering

“Does the wild donkey bray when it is near grass? Or does the ox bellow over its fodder?

I will praise the Lord who guides me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn.

Within your temple we reflect on your loyal love, O God.

and all people will fear. They will proclaim what God has done, and reflect on his deeds.

I will think about all you have done; I will reflect upon your deeds.”

I recall the old days. I meditate on all you have done; I reflect on your accomplishments.

As in water the face is reflected as a face, so a person’s heart reflects the person.

I reflected on everything that is accomplished by man on earth, and I concluded: Everything he has accomplished is futile—like chasing the wind!

Yet when I reflected on everything I had accomplished and on all the effort that I had expended to accomplish it, I concluded: “All these achievements and possessions are ultimately profitless— like chasing the wind! There is nothing gained from them on earth.”

Sorrow is better than laughter, because sober reflection is good for the heart.

Everyone Will Die

So I reflected on all this, attempting to clear it all up. I concluded that the righteous and the wise, as well as their works, are in the hand of God; whether a person will be loved or hated— no one knows what lies ahead.

Having suffered, he will reflect on his work, he will be satisfied when he understands what he has done. “My servant will acquit many, for he carried their sins.

The People of Jerusalem Pray

O Lord, reflect on what has happened to us; consider and look at our disgrace.

Now therefore reflect carefully on the recent past, before one stone was laid on another in the Lord’s temple.

And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

You are looking at outward appearances. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should reflect on this again: Just as he himself belongs to Christ, so too do we.

Remember your leaders, who spoke God’s message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.
