  49. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
  50. But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
  51. For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
  52. Prophecy of Scripture

    So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
  53. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.
  54. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
