  1. Yahweh afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

  11. Yahweh brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “So your offspring will be.”
  12. He believed in Yahweh, who credited it to him for righteousness.
  13. He said to Abram, “I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”
  14. He said, “Lord Yahweh, how will I know that I will inherit it?”
  15. In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:
  16. Sarai said to Abram, “See now, Yahweh has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
  17. Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my servant into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, she despised me. May Yahweh judge between me and you.”
  18. Yahweh’s angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur.
  19. Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.”
  20. Yahweh’s angel said to her, “I will greatly multiply your offspring, that they will not be counted for multitude.”

  23. When Abram was ninety-nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless.
  24. Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
  25. Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child when I am old?’
