Make my deceitful words bring wound and bruise on those who have planned cruel things against your covenant and against your sacred house and against Mount Zion and against the house your children possess.

Life as the Ungodly See It

But the ungodly by their words and deeds summoned death; considering him a friend, they pined away and made a covenant with him, because they are fit to belong to his company.

with what strictness you have judged your children, to whose ancestors you gave oaths and covenants full of good promises!

He conquered the wrath not by strength of body, not by force of arms, but by his word he subdued the avenger, appealing to the oaths and covenants given to our ancestors.

He established with them an eternal covenant and revealed to them his decrees.

Wisdom and the Law

All this is the book of the covenant of the Most High God, the law that Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the congregations of Jacob.

Remember the commandments and do not be angry with your neighbor; remember the covenant of the Most High and overlook faults.

They will show the discipline of their training and will glory in the law of the Lord’s covenant.

Do not be ashamed of the law of the Most High and his covenant and of rendering judgment to acquit the ungodly;

Everlasting covenants were made with him that all flesh should never again be blotted out by a flood.

Isaac and Jacob

To Isaac also he gave the same assurance for the sake of his father Abraham. The blessing of all people and a covenant

They chose to die rather than to be defiled by food or to profane the holy covenant, and they did die.
