  1. So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us. And go out and fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the special stick of God in my hand.”
  2. Joshua did as Moses told him. He fought against Amalek. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

  9. These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. But Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun, Joshua.
  10. And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh tore their clothes. They were among those who had spied out the land.
  11. But all the people said to throw stones at Joshua and Caleb. Then the shining-greatness of the Lord was seen in the meeting tent by all the people of Israel.
  12. For sure, not one will go into the land where I promised to have you live, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
  13. But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh stayed alive, of those men who went to spy out the land.
  14. For the Lord had said of them, “For sure they will die in the desert.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
  15. Joshua Takes over from Moses

    Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land I have given to the people of Israel.
  16. So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.
  17. Moses did just as the Lord told him. He took Joshua and had him stand in front of Eleazar the religious leader, and in front of all the people.
  18. Only Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun will see it. For they have followed the Lord with all their hearts.’
  19. So Moses gave news about them to Eleazar the religious leader, Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ houses of the families of the people of Israel.
  20. “Eleazar the religious leader and Joshua the son of Nun are the men who will divide the land to be given to you.
  21. Joshua the son of Nun, who stands in front of you, will go in there. Tell him to be strong, for he will bring Israel into their new land.
  22. And then I told Joshua, ‘Your eyes have seen all the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the nations through which you pass.
  23. But tell Joshua what is to be done. Comfort him and give him strength. For he will cross in front of this people. And he will give them for their own the land that you will see.’
  24. Joshua Is the New Leader

    Then Moses spoke these words to all Israel.
  25. The Lord your God Himself will cross before you. He will destroy these nations in front of you. And you will take their place. Joshua will cross before you also, as the Lord has said.
