  1. “What is my beloved doing in my temple as she, with many others, works out her evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your punishment? When you engage in your wickedness, then you rejoice.”

  20. The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.
  21. But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.
  22. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.
  23. I gave it into the hands of the ruler of the nations, for him to deal with according to its wickedness. I cast it aside,
  24. “Therefore, son of man, say to your people, ‘If someone who is righteous disobeys, that person’s former righteousness will count for nothing. And if someone who is wicked repents, that person’s former wickedness will not bring condemnation. The righteous person who sins will not be allowed to live even though they were formerly righteous.’
  25. And if a wicked person turns away from their wickedness and does what is just and right, they will live by doing so.
