  10. Slaves to Righteousness

    What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!

  36. But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”
  37. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
  38. Freedom in Christ

    It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
  39. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
  40. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

  47. Widows, Elders and Slaves

  49. Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves.

    False Teachers and the Love of Money

    These are the things you are to teach and insist on.
  50. Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
  51. no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.
  52. and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
  53. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
  54. Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
  55. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”
