  2. He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.

  7. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
  8. The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.
  9. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
  10. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
  11. The Certainty of God’s Promise

    When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,
  12. And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
  13. This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.
  14. By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,
