  18. Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.
  19. He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
  20. He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?
  21. The Parable of the Sower

    After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,
  22. While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable:
  23. His disciples asked him what this parable meant.
  24. He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, “‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’
  25. “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.
