    When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him.
  9. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
  10. While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
  11. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
  12. The Church in Antioch

    Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews.
  13. And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’
