  1. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
  2. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

  12. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.
  13. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
  14. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,
  15. that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
  16. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.
  17. “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me.
  18. And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,
  19. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
  20. “But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.
  21. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
  22. Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
  23. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
  24. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
  25. They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’ ?”
