    Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard about this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.
  2. They *said to Him, “We have nothing here except five loaves and two fish.”
  3. And ordering the crowds to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looked up toward heaven. He blessed the food and breaking the loaves, He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
  4. There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.
  5. Do you not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you picked up?
  6. Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.

    Now the day was ending, and the twelve came up and said to Him, “Dismiss the crowd, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and get something to eat; because here, we are in a secluded place.”
  18. But He said to them, “You give them something to eat!” But they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people.”
  19. (For there were about five thousand men.) But He said to His disciples, “Have them recline to eat in groups of about fifty each.”
  20. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and, looking up to heaven, He blessed them and broke them, and gave them to the disciples again and again, to serve the crowd.
  21. Are five sparrows not sold for two assaria? And yet not one of them has gone unnoticed in the sight of God.
  22. for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.
