  1. “Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My garment over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord God.
  2. For this is what the Lord God says: “I will also do with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.
  3. The Covenant Remembered

    “Nevertheless, I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
  4. Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both your older and your younger; and I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of your covenant.
  5. So I will establish My covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord,
  6. Then he took one of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land,
  7. so that the kingdom would be humbled, not exalting itself, but keeping his covenant so that it might continue.
  8. But he revolted against him by sending his messengers to Egypt so that they might give him horses and many troops. Will he succeed? Will he who does these things escape? Can he indeed break the covenant and escape?
  9. As I live,’ declares the Lord God, ‘In the country of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, in Babylon he shall certainly die.
  10. Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.’”
  11. Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: “As I live, My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will certainly inflict on his head.
  12. “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;
  13. “And I will make a covenant of peace with them and eliminate harmful animals from the land, so that they may live securely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.
  14. And I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and set My sanctuary in their midst forever.
  15. when you brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary to profane it, My house, when you offered My food, the fat, and the blood and they broke My covenantthis in addition to all your abominations.
