Then · Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Then the devil took him into the holy city, · placed him on the pinnacle of the temple,

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and · their splendor;

Then Jesus said to him, · “Away with you, Satan! For it stands written, ‘You shall worship the Lord · your God and serve him alone.’”

Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and began to take care of him.

So if · Satan casts out · Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand? ·

and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; and the harvest is the end of the age; and the harvesters are the angels.

But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle in my way, because you are not thinking the thoughts of God but those of men.”

“Then he will say · to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed ones, to the eternal fire · · prepared for the devil and · his angels.

and he was in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by · Satan. · He was there with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to him.

So he called them together and began speaking to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?

And if · Satan rises against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is coming to an end.

These · are the ones on the path where the word is sown: · whenever they hear, Satan immediately comes · and carries off the word that was sown in them.

But after turning and looking at · his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not thinking the thoughts of God, but those of men.”

for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during · those days, so when they were completed he was hungry.

The devil said · to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell · this stone to become bread.”

· The devil said to him, “To you I will give · all this authority and · their glory, for to me it has been handed over, and to whomever I desire, I give it.

And when he had completed every kind of temptation, the devil departed from him until a more favorable time.

Those · along the path are the ones who hear—then the devil comes and takes away the word from · their heart, so that they may not believe and be saved.

He said · to them, “I saw · Satan as he fell, like a bolt of lightening from the sky.

And if Satan also · has been divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? · For you say that by Beelzebul I cast out · demons.

And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound · for eighteen · years, be released from · this bondage on the day of the Sabbath?”

Then Satan entered into Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.

Simon, Simon! Pay attention! · Satan has demanded permission to have all of you for himself, to sift you like · wheat,

Jesus answered them, · “Did I not choose you, the twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”

You belong to your father the devil, and your will is to carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and never did stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, · he is giving expression to · his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

· The devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Jesus. During the evening meal

· After Judas had taken the morsel of bread, Satan entered into him. · Jesus said to him, · “What you are going to do, do quickly.”

But Peter said, · “Ananias, why did Satan fill · · your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit · and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the field?

Jesus · of Nazareth, how God anointed him · with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because · God was with him.

and said, “O man full of all kinds of deceit and all fraud, son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? ·

to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to · God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith · in me.’

The · God of peace will soon crush · Satan under · your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

hand this man over · to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved on the Day of the Lord.

Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a set time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer; then come together again, · so that Satan may not tempt you · because of · your lack of self-control.

lest we be taken advantage of by · Satan; for we are not unaware of his · intentions.

And no wonder! For Satan himself · disguises himself as an angel of light.

especially because of the extraordinary character of my revelations. Therefore in order that I should not become conceited, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not become conceited.

and do not give an opportunity to the devil.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil;

For we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, · time and again—but Satan hindered us. ·

The coming of the lawless one will be according to the activity of Satan, with all kinds of false miracles, · signs, and wonders,

among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered over to Satan so that they might be taught through punishment not to blaspheme.

not a recent convert, lest having become conceited, he fall into the judgment of the devil.

And it is also necessary for an overseer to have a good reputation with those outside, lest he fall into reproach, · which is the snare of the devil.

for some have already strayed after · Satan.

and they might return to soberness out of the snare of the devil (having been captured alive by him) in order to do · his will.

Therefore since the children share in blood and flesh, he himself also, in the same way, shared the same things so that by his death he might destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil),

So submit yourselves to God. Resist · the devil and he will flee from you.

Be sober-minded! Be alert! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

The one who continues to · sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose—that he might destroy the works of the devil.

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: whoever · does not practice righteousness is not of · God, nor is the one who does not love · his brother.

· But when Michael the archangel, in debate with the devil, was arguing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to condemn him for blasphemy, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

I know your · affliction and your poverty (but you are rich), and the slander against you by those who call themselves Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. The devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will have affliction for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

I know where you live, where · Satan has his throne. Yet you are holding fast to · my name, and you did not deny your faith in me even in the days of Antipas · my faithful witness, · who was put to death in your city where · Satan lives.

But to the rest of you · in Thyatira, who do not follow · this teaching (who have not learned ‘the deep things of Satan,’ as they call them), to you I say, I lay on you no other burden,

Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who claim to be Jews and are not, but lie—I will make them come and bow down before · your feet and understand that I have loved you.

And the great dragon was thrown down, · that ancient serpent, · who is called the devil and · Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and · his angels were thrown down with him.

Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and all who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and · sea, for the devil has come down to you having great wrath, because he knows that he has only a short time!”

· He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent · (who is the devil and · Satan), and bound him for a thousand years.

· When the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released · from · his prison

And the devil, the one who had deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where both the beast and the false prophet are. · There they will suffer torment day and night for all time. ·
