  1. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
  2. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

  18. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
  19. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
  20. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
  21. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
  22. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
  23. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
