  223. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
  224. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
  225. For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
  226. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
  227. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
  228. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
  229. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
  230. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
  231. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
  232. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
  233. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
  234. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
  235. Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
  236. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
  237. And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
  238. For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
  239. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
  240. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
  241. (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
  242. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
  243. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
  244. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
  245. But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
  246. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
  247. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
  248. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
  249. What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
  250. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
  251. As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
  252. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
  253. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
  254. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
  255. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
  256. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
  257. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
  258. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
  259. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
  260. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
  261. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
  262. For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
  263. Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
  264. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
  265. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
  266. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
  267. Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
  268. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
  269. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
  270. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
  271. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
  272. That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
  273. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
  274. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
  275. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
  276. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
  277. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
  278. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
  279. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
  280. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
  281. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
  282. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
  283. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
  284. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
  285. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
  286. To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
  287. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
  288. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
  289. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
  290. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
  291. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
  292. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
  293. Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
  294. And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
  295. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
  296. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
  297. Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
  298. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
  299. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
  300. (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
  301. And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
  302. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
  303. Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
  304. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
  305. But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
  306. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
  307. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
  308. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  309. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  310. Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
  311. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
  312. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
  313. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
  314. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
  315. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
  316. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
  317. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
  318. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
  319. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
  320. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
  321. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
  322. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
  323. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
  324. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
  325. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
  326. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
  327. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
  328. Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
  329. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
  330. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
  331. In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
  332. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
  333. One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
  334. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
  335. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
  336. But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
  337. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
  338. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
  339. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
  340. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
  341. Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
  342. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
  343. To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
  344. Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
  345. As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
  346. If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
  347. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
  348. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
  349. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
  350. All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
  351. With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.
  352. Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
  353. So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
  354. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
  355. Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
  356. For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
  357. And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
  358. For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
  359. But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
  360. Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
  361. Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
  362. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
  363. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
  364. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
  365. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
  366. So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
  367. When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
  368. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
  369. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
  370. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
  371. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
  372. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
  373. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
  374. Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
  375. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
  376. Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
  377. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
  378. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
  379. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
  380. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
  381. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
  382. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
  383. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
  384. Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
  385. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
  386. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
  387. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
  388. Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
  389. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
  390. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
  391. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
  392. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
  393. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
  394. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
  395. Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
  396. If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
  397. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
  398. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
  399. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
  400. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
  401. Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
  402. When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
  403. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
  404. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
  405. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
  406. It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
  407. If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
  408. Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
  409. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
  410. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
  411. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
  412. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
  413. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
  414. Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
  415. To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
  416. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
  417. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
  418. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
  419. That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
  420. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
  421. All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
  422. Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
  423. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
  424. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
  425. Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
  426. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
  427. And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
  428. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
  429. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
  430. Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
  431. That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
  432. Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
  433. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
  434. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
  435. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
  436. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  437. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
  438. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
  439. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
  440. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
  441. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
  442. By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
  443. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
