  2. The Birth of Jesus Christ

    This was how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit.

  10. The Resurrection

    Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

    After Jesus rose from death early on Sunday, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.
  17. He had a message for a young woman promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was a descendant of King David. Her name was Mary.
  18. Mary was deeply troubled by the angel's message, and she wondered what his words meant.
  19. The angel said to her, “Don't be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you.
  20. Mary said to the angel, “I am a virgin. How, then, can this be?”
  21. “I am the Lord's servant,” said Mary; “may it happen to me as you have said.” And the angel left her.
  22. Mary Visits Elizabeth

    Soon afterward Mary got ready and hurried off to a town in the hill country of Judea.
  23. Mary's Song of Praise

    Mary said, “My heart praises the Lord;
  24. Mary stayed about three months with Elizabeth and then went back home.
  25. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant,
  26. So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger.

  40. Jesus Weeps

    After Martha said this, she went back and called her sister Mary privately. “The Teacher is here,” she told her, “and is asking for you.”
  41. When Mary heard this, she got up and hurried out to meet him.
  42. The people who were in the house with Mary comforting her followed her when they saw her get up and hurry out. They thought that she was going to the grave to weep there.
  43. Mary arrived where Jesus was, and as soon as she saw him, she fell at his feet. “Lord,” she said, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died!”
  44. The Plot against Jesus

    Many of the people who had come to visit Mary saw what Jesus did, and they believed in him.
  45. Then Mary took a whole pint of a very expensive perfume made of pure nard, poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. The sweet smell of the perfume filled the whole house.
  46. Standing close to Jesus' cross were his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
  47. The Empty Tomb

    Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the entrance.
  48. Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

    Mary stood crying outside the tomb. While she was still crying, she bent over and looked in the tomb
  49. Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned toward him and said in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (This means “Teacher.”)
  50. So Mary Magdalene went and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and related to them what he had told her.
  51. They gathered frequently to pray as a group, together with the women and with Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers.
  52. Aware of his situation, he went to the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
