  26. Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time

    And taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.

  28. But he looked directly at them and said, “What then is this that is written: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?

  31. Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
  32. and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,

  43. The Purpose of This Book

    Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;
  44. but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
  45. This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
  46. Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
  47. “For it is written in the Book of Psalms, “‘May his camp become desolate, and let there be no one to dwell in it’; and “‘Let another take his office.’
