  1. And you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord did not listen to your voice or give ear to you.
  2. Then the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, but saw no form; there was only a voice.
  3. When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice.
  4. Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live?

  7. And as soon as you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes, and your elders.
  8. And you said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us his glory and greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. This day we have seen God speak with man, and man still live.
  9. Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, we shall die.
  10. For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of fire as we have, and has still lived?
  11. Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.
  12. And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, ‘Go up and take possession of the land that I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God and did not believe him or obey his voice.
  13. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him.
  14. if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping all his commandments that I am commanding you today, and doing what is right in the sight of the Lord your God.
  15. if only you will strictly obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all this commandment that I command you today.
  16. just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’
  17. A Rebellious Son

    “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them,
  18. and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’
  19. Then we cried to the Lord, the God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression.
  20. I have not eaten of the tithe while I was mourning, or removed any of it while I was unclean, or offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God. I have done according to all that you have commanded me.
  21. You have declared today that the Lord is your God, and that you will walk in his ways, and keep his statutes and his commandments and his rules, and will obey his voice.
  22. You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”
  23. And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel in a loud voice:
  24. Blessings for Obedience

    “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
  25. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.
  26. Curses for Disobedience

    “But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.
  27. “All these curses shall come upon you and pursue you and overtake you till you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that he commanded you.
  28. Whereas you were as numerous as the stars of heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God.
  29. and return to the Lord your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul,
  30. And you shall again obey the voice of the Lord and keep all his commandments that I command you today.
  31. when you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, when you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
  32. loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
  33. And this he said of Judah: “Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah, and bring him in to his people. With your hands contend for him, and be a help against his adversaries.”
