  1. Now therefore, forgive my sin, please, only this once, and plead with the Lord your God only to remove this death from me.”

  6. Water from the Rock

    All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the Lord, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
  7. Israel at Mount Sinai

    On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
  8. They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain,
  9. and be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
  10. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.
  11. The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
  12. And Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for you yourself warned us, saying, ‘Set limits around the mountain and consecrate it.’”
  13. Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.”
  14. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.
  15. If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has broken faith with her.
  16. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”
  17. The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
  18. Their calyxes and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it a single piece of hammered work of pure gold.
  19. And you shall make fifty clasps of gold, and couple the curtains one to the other with the clasps, so that the tabernacle may be a single whole.
  20. “You shall make fifty clasps of bronze, and put the clasps into the loops, and couple the tent together that it may be a single whole.
  21. But the flesh of the bull and its skin and its dung you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
  22. and every day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement. Also you shall purify the altar, when you make atonement for it, and shall anoint it to consecrate it.
  23. Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year. With the blood of the sin offering of atonement he shall make atonement for it once in the year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”
  24. And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
  25. But he said, “It is not the sound of shouting for victory, or the sound of the cry of defeat, but the sound of singing that I hear.”
