  4. Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
  5. The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.
  6. Dan shall be a serpent in the way, a viper by the path, that bites the horse's heels so that his rider falls backward.
  7. And he said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it.
  8. “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’”
  9. So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.
  10. For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.
  11. Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that turned into a serpent.
  12. The Bronze Serpent

    From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way.
  13. Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died.
  14. And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
  15. And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
  16. So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
  17. who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock,
  18. their wine is the poison of serpents and the cruel venom of asps.
  19. Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and fattened cattle by the Serpent's Stone, which is beside En-rogel, and he invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the royal officials of Judah,
  20. He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it (it was called Nehushtan).
  21. By his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
  22. They have venom like the venom of a serpent, like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
  23. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
  24. They make their tongue sharp as a serpent's, and under their lips is the venom of asps. Selah
  25. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.
