  1. And Achish answered David and said, “I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God. Nevertheless, the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’

And he said to the angel who was working destruction, “It is enough; now stay your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
  15. And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, and in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
  16. David Builds an Altar

    Now the angel of the Lord had commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up and raise an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
  17. Now Ornan was threshing wheat. He turned and saw the angel, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves.
  18. Then the Lord commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
  19. but David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the Lord.
  20. And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.
  21. Even in his servants he puts no trust, and his angels he charges with error;
  22. If there be for him an angel, a mediator, one of the thousand, to declare to man what is right for him,
  23. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
  24. Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away!
  25. Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
