  1. This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him.
  2. But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

  8. He answered, “Who is He, Sir? Tell me so that I may believe in Him.”
  9. And he said, “Lord, I believe [in You and Your word]!” And he worshiped Him [with reverence and awe].
  10. Then Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment [to separate those who believe in Me from those who reject Me—to declare judgment on those who choose to be separated from God], so that the sightless would see, and those who see would become blind.”
  11. Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe [in Me], you will see the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]?”
