  1. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
  2. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
  3. where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

    When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there.
  14. And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”
  15. Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered John a prophet.
  16. This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
  17. The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
  18. But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”
  19. They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.
  20. “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
  21. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel,
  22. as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”—
  23. A Prophet Without Honor

    Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples.
  24. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”
  25. Others said, “He is Elijah.” And still others claimed, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago.”
