  1. For if you praise God only in the spirit, how can those who don’t understand you praise God along with you? How can they join you in giving thanks when they don’t understand what you are saying?
  2. Even so, if unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your church meeting and hear everyone speaking in an unknown language, they will think you are crazy.
  3. But if all of you are prophesying, and unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your meeting, they will be convicted of sin and judged by what you say.
  4. If you claim to be a prophet or think you are spiritual, you should recognize that what I am saying is a command from the Lord himself.
  5. And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.
  6. And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting.
