  1. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
  2. The Testimony of John the Baptist

    And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
  3. So they said to him, “Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

  12. Witnesses to Jesus

    “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
  13. You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.
  14. But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.
  15. And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
  16. and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.
  17. Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
  18. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.
  19. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
  20. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
  21. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.
  22. So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
  23. The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.
  24. So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know.
  25. I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.”
  26. Officers Sent to Arrest Jesus

    The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
  27. Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.
  28. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.
  29. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”
  30. I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.”
  31. And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

  43. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
  44. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.
  45. But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
  46. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
  47. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.
  48. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
  49. that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
  50. I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
  51. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
  52. Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
  53. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
