  1. Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
  2. When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. “Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!”

    Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came over and spoke to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do us a favor.”
  10. But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of suffering I am about to drink? Are you able to be baptized with the baptism of suffering I must be baptized with?”
  11. So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.
  12. When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!”
  13. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!”
  14. And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.
  15. They said what Jesus had told them to say, and they were permitted to take it.
  16. Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.
  17. Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Rabbi! The fig tree you cursed has withered and died!”
  18. Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.
  19. Should we pay them, or shouldn’t we?” Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you trying to trap me? Show me a Roman coin, and I’ll tell you.”
  20. “Well, then,” Jesus said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” His reply completely amazed them.
  21. Realizing how much the man understood, Jesus said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
  22. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.
  23. Jesus Speaks about the Future

    As Jesus was leaving the Temple that day, one of his disciples said, “Teacher, look at these magnificent buildings! Look at the impressive stones in the walls.”
  24. So the two disciples went into the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there.
  25. As they were at the table eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you eating with me here will betray me.”
