  1. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
  2. “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
  3. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

  8. Jesus Arrested

    While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
  9. While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
  10. as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”—
  11. At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness,
  12. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
  13. Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:
  14. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach
  15. Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.
  16. And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
  17. The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.”
  18. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

    Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

    Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.
  19. Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.
  20. So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison,
  21. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
  22. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”
  23. About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away,
  24. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
  25. “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
