  73. So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”

  98. I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’

  104. And you know the way to where I am going.”
  105. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
  106. Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
  107. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
  108. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
  109. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
  110. “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you.

  112. I Am the True Vine

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

  114. But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

  120. And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.
  121. But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
  122. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
  123. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

  137. And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
  138. Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”
  139. And Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”

  144. for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.”
  145. And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,
  146. Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all,
  147. Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
  148. Paul replied, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city. I beg you, permit me to speak to the people.”
  149. I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day.
  150. And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’
  151. The tribune answered, “I bought this citizenship for a large sum.” Paul said, “But I am a citizen by birth.”
  152. Now when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
  153. other than this one thing that I cried out while standing among them: ‘It is with respect to the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you this day.’”
  154. But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you yourself know very well.
  155. If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
  156. “I consider myself fortunate that it is before you, King Agrippa, I am going to make my defense today against all the accusations of the Jews,
  157. to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they earnestly worship night and day. And for this hope I am accused by Jews, O king!
  158. And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
  159. delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you
  160. But Paul said, “I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I am speaking true and rational words.
  161. For the king knows about these things, and to him I speak boldly. For I am persuaded that none of these things has escaped his notice, for this has not been done in a corner.
  162. And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.”
  163. For this reason, therefore, I have asked to see you and speak with you, since it is because of the hope of Israel that I am wearing this chain.”
  164. I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.
  165. So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
  166. The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
  167. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
  168. Released from the Law

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?
  169. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.
  170. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
  171. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
  172. God's Sovereign Choice

I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit—
  173. as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
  174. Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry
  175. At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints.
  176. For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.
  177. For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing.
  178. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
  179. To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am.
  180. If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
  181. For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship.
  182. For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.
  183. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
  184. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
  185. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
  186. The Way of Love

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
  187. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
  188. If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.
  189. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
  190. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
  191. When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am.
  192. So let no one despise him. Help him on his way in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.
  193. I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.
  194. But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be.
  195. Paul Defends His Ministry

I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!—
  196. I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh.
  197. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
  198. Indeed, I consider that I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.
  199. Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not so in knowledge; indeed, in every way we have made this plain to you in all things.
  200. And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do.
  201. What I am saying with this boastful confidence, I say not as the Lord would but as a fool.
  202. To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that! But whatever anyone else dares to boast of—I am speaking as a fool—I also dare to boast of that.
  203. Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one—I am talking like a madman—with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death.
  204. Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to fall, and I am not indignant?
  205. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.
  206. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
  207. Concern for the Corinthian Church

I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was not at all inferior to these super-apostles, even though I am nothing.
  208. Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.
  209. Final Warnings

This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
  210. For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.
  211. No Other Gospel

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
  212. (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!)
  213. I am afraid I may have labored over you in vain.
  214. Brothers, I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong.
  215. It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you,
  216. my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!
  217. I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
  218. Final Warning and Benediction

See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand.
  219. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
  220. So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.
  221. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
  222. for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
  223. Final Greetings

So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord will tell you everything.
  224. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
  225. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
  226. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.
  227. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.
  228. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
  229. I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious.
  230. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
  231. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
  232. Paul's Ministry to the Church

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,
  233. For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.
  234. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—
  235. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
  236. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
  237. The Mystery of Godliness

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that,
  238. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
  239. which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.
  240. for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!
  241. For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
  242. Paul's Plea for Onesimus

Accordingly, though I am bold enough in Christ to command you to do what is required,
  243. I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart.
  244. At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be graciously given to you.
  245. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
  246. since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
  247. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
  248. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder,
  249. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,”
  250. The Day of the Lord Will Come

This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,
  251. Christ Our Advocate

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
  252. The New Commandment

Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard.
  253. At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
  254. I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake.
  255. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father.
  256. I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
  257. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
  258. and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
  259. and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.
  260. I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
  261. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
  262. (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)
  263. As she glorified herself and lived in luxury, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning, since in her heart she says, ‘I sit as a queen, I am no widow, and mourning I shall never see.’
  264. Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
  265. And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
  266. And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.
  267. “And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
  268. but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
  269. “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.
  270. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
  271. “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
  272. He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
