  15. What is your judgment?” They answered, “He deserves death.”

    When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

  27. And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.”
  28. Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.
  29. You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death.
  30. The Death of Jesus

  38. But if we say, ‘From man,’ all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”
  39. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.
  40. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people.
  41. Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.”
  42. Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him.
  43. A third time he said to them, “Why? What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.”

  45. The Death of Jesus

    Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
  52. But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
  53. Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep.
  54. So from that day on they made plans to put him to death.

    After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.”
  60. (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”
  61. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
  62. And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree,
  63. And after Herod searched for him and did not find him, he examined the sentries and ordered that they should be put to death. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and spent time there.
  64. The Death of Herod

    Now Herod was angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon, and they came to him with one accord, and having persuaded Blastus, the king's chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king's country for food.
  65. And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.
  66. I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women,
  67. I found that he was being accused about questions of their law, but charged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment.
  68. If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
  69. But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him.
  70. And I did so in Jerusalem. I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority from the chief priests, but when they were put to death I cast my vote against them.
  71. And when they had withdrawn, they said to one another, “This man is doing nothing to deserve death or imprisonment.”
  72. When they had examined me, they wished to set me at liberty, because there was no reason for the death penalty in my case.
  73. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
  74. Death in Adam, Life in Christ

    Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
  75. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
  76. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
  77. so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  78. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
  79. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

  136. And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
  137. And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.
  138. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
  139. For this reason her plagues will come in a single day, death and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for mighty is the Lord God who has judged her.”
  140. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
  141. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
  142. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
  143. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
  144. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
