  185. because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will reveal the interpretation.”
  186. I have heard of you that a spirit of the gods is in you and that enlightenment, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.
  187. But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he acted proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his glory was stripped from him.
  188. Soon Daniel distinguished himself above the other administrators and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king planned to appoint him over the whole kingdom.
  189. Daniel’s Visions Interpreted

    As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head terrified me.
  190. My people consult a piece of wood, and their divining rod gives them oracles. For a spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have prostituted themselves, forsaking their God.
  191. Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of prostitution is within them, and they do not know the Lord.
  192. The days of punishment have come; the days of recompense have come. Israel will cry out, “The prophet is a fool; the man of the spirit is mad!” Because of your great iniquity, your hostility is great.
  193. God’s Spirit Poured Out

    Then afterward I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
  194. Even on the male and female slaves, in those days I will pour out my spirit.
  195. But as for me, I am filled with power, with the spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.
  196. Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faithfulness.
  197. And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,
  198. according to the promise that I made you when you came out of Egypt. My spirit abides among you; do not fear.
  199. He said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
  200. Then he cried out to me, “See, those who go toward the north country have set my spirit at rest in the north country.”
  201. They made their hearts adamant in order not to hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the Lord of hosts.
  202. Jerusalem’s Victory

    An Oracle. The word of the Lord concerning Israel: Thus says the Lord, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the human spirit within:
  203. Mourning for the Pierced One

    And I will pour out a spirit of compassion and supplication on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem so that, when they look on the one whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly over him as one weeps over a firstborn.
  204. Idolatry Cut Off

    On that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more, and also I will remove from the land the prophets and the unclean spirit.
  205. Did God not make them one, flesh with spirit in it? And what does the one desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth.
