24 Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord Almighty, says:

“My people who live in Zion,(A)
    do not be afraid(B) of the Assyrians,
who beat(C) you with a rod(D)
    and lift up a club against you, as Egypt did.
25 Very soon(E) my anger against you will end
    and my wrath(F) will be directed to their destruction.(G)

26 The Lord Almighty will lash(H) them with a whip,
    as when he struck down Midian(I) at the rock of Oreb;
and he will raise his staff(J) over the waters,(K)
    as he did in Egypt.
27 In that day(L) their burden(M) will be lifted from your shoulders,
    their yoke(N) from your neck;(O)
the yoke(P) will be broken
    because you have grown so fat.[a]

28 They enter Aiath;
    they pass through Migron;(Q)
    they store supplies(R) at Mikmash.(S)
29 They go over the pass, and say,
    “We will camp overnight at Geba.(T)
Ramah(U) trembles;
    Gibeah(V) of Saul flees.(W)
30 Cry out, Daughter Gallim!(X)
    Listen, Laishah!
    Poor Anathoth!(Y)
31 Madmenah is in flight;
    the people of Gebim take cover.
32 This day they will halt at Nob;(Z)
    they will shake their fist(AA)
at the mount of Daughter Zion,(AB)
    at the hill of Jerusalem.

33 See, the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
    will lop off(AC) the boughs with great power.
The lofty trees will be felled,(AD)
    the tall(AE) ones will be brought low.(AF)
34 He will cut down(AG) the forest thickets with an ax;
    Lebanon(AH) will fall before the Mighty One.(AI)

24 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “O My people, who dwell in Zion, (A)do not be afraid of the Assyrian. He shall strike you with a rod and lift up his staff against you, in the manner of (B)Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while (C)and the indignation will cease, as will My anger in their destruction.” 26 And the Lord of hosts will [a]stir up (D)a scourge for him like the slaughter of (E)Midian at the rock of Oreb; (F)as His rod was on the sea, so will He lift it up in the manner of Egypt.

27 It shall come to pass in that day
That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his yoke from your neck,
And the yoke will be destroyed because of (G)the anointing oil.

28 He has come to Aiath,
He has passed Migron;
At Michmash he has attended to his equipment.
29 They have gone [b]along (H)the ridge,
They have taken up lodging at Geba.
Ramah is afraid,
(I)Gibeah of Saul has fled.
30 [c]Lift up your voice,
O daughter (J)of Gallim!
Cause it to be heard as far as (K)Laish—
[d]O poor Anathoth!
31 (L)Madmenah has fled,
The inhabitants of Gebim seek refuge.
32 As yet he will remain (M)at Nob that day;
He will (N)shake his fist at the mount of (O)the daughter of Zion,
The hill of Jerusalem.

33 Behold, the Lord,
The Lord of hosts,
Will lop off the bough with terror;
(P)Those of high stature will be hewn down,
And the haughty will be humbled.
34 He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron,
And Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.
