Yahweh Be Magnified
Of David.
35 Contend, O Yahweh, with those who (A)contend with me;
Fight against those who (B)fight against me.
2 Take hold of [a](C)shield and large shield
And rise up for (D)my help.
3 Draw also the spear and [b]the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me;
Say to my soul, “I am (E)your salvation.”
4 Let those be (F)ashamed and dishonored who seek my [c]life;
Let those who devise evil against me be (G)turned back and humiliated.
5 Let them be (H)like chaff before the wind,
With the angel of Yahweh driving them on.
6 Let their way be dark and (I)slippery,
With the angel of Yahweh pursuing them.
7 For (J)without cause they (K)hid their net for me;
Without cause they dug a [d]pit for my soul.
8 Let (L)destruction, which he does not know, come upon him,
And (M)let the net, which he hid, catch him;
Let him fall into it in (N)destruction.
9 And my soul shall (O)rejoice in Yahweh;
It shall (P)be joyful in His salvation.
10 All my (Q)bones will say, “Yahweh, (R)who is like You,
Who delivers the afflicted from him (S)who is too strong for him,
And (T)the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?”
11 (U)Malicious witnesses rise up,
Who ask me of things that I do not know.
12 They (V)repay me evil for good,
It is bereavement to my soul.
13 But as for me, (W)when they were sick, my (X)clothing was sackcloth;
I (Y)humbled my soul with fasting,
And my (Z)prayer kept returning to my bosom.
14 I walked about as though it were my friend or brother;
I (AA)bowed down [e]mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.
15 But (AB)at my [f]stumbling they were glad and gathered themselves together;
The [g](AC)smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,
They (AD)tore at me and never were silent.
16 Amongst the godless jesters at a feast,
They (AE)gnashed at me with their teeth.
17 Lord, (AF)how long will You look on?
Bring back my soul (AG)from their ravages,
My (AH)only life from the lions.
18 I will (AI)give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will (AJ)praise You among a mighty people.
19 (AK)Let those who are wrongfully (AL)my enemies not be glad over me;
Nor let those (AM)who hate me without cause [h](AN)wink maliciously.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise (AO)deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
21 They (AP)opened their mouth wide against me;
They said, “(AQ)Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!”
22 (AR)You have seen it, O Yahweh, (AS)do not keep silent;
O Lord, (AT)do not be far from me.
23 (AU)Stir up Yourself, and awake to my justice
And to my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 (AV)Judge me, O Yahweh my God, according to Your righteousness,
And (AW)do not let them be glad over me.
25 Do not let them say in their heart, “(AX)Aha, our desire!”
Do not let them say, “We have (AY)swallowed him up!”
26 Let (AZ)those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who are glad at the evil done to me;
Let those be (BA)clothed with shame and dishonor who (BB)magnify themselves over me.
27 Let them (BC)shout for joy and be glad, who delight in (BD)my righteousness;
And (BE)let them say continually, “Yahweh be magnified,
Who (BF)delights in the peace of His slave.”
28 And (BG)my tongue shall utter Your righteousness
And Your praise all day long.

36 [i]Transgression declares to the [j]ungodly within [k]his heart;
There is (BH)no dread of God before his eyes.
2 For it (BI)flatters him in his eyes
For one to discover his iniquity and hate it.
3 The (BJ)words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has (BK)ceased to consider to do good.
4 He (BL)devises wickedness upon his bed;
He sets himself on a (BM)path that is not good;
He (BN)does not despise evil.
5 Your (BO)lovingkindness, O Yahweh, is in the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
6 Your (BP)righteousness is like the [l]mountains of God;
Your (BQ)judgments are like a great deep.
O Yahweh, You (BR)save man and beast.
7 How (BS)precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the sons of men (BT)take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
8 They [m]are (BU)satisfied from the [n]richness of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the (BV)river of Your delights.
9 For with You is the (BW)fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
10 Continue Your lovingkindness to (BX)those who know You,
And Your (BY)righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of [o]pride come upon me,
And let not the hand of the [p]ungodly drive me away.
12 There the workers of wickedness have fallen;
They have been thrust down and (BZ)cannot rise.

But those who hope for Yahweh, they will (CR)inherit the land.

10 Yet (CS)a little while and the wicked man will be no more;
You will look carefully at (CT)his place, and he will not be there.

And will delight themselves in (CV)abundant peace.

12 The wicked (CW)schemes against the righteous
And (CX)gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord (CY)laughs at him,
For He sees that (CZ)his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn the sword and (DA)bent their bow
To cast down the (DB)afflicted and the needy,
To (DC)slay those who are upright in conduct.
15 Their sword will enter their own heart,
And their (DD)bows will be broken.

Than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the (DF)arms of the wicked will be broken,
But Yahweh (DG)sustains the righteous.

19 They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,

And the enemies of Yahweh will be like the [t]glory of the pastures,

21 The wicked borrows and does not pay back,

And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the (EP)wicked are cut off, you will see it.

36 Then [x]he passed away, and behold, he (ES)was no more;
I sought for him, but he could not be found.

For the man of peace will have [z]a (EV)posterity.
38 But transgressors will be altogether (EW)destroyed;

A Psalm of David. To bring to remembrance.
38 O Yahweh, (FD)reprove me not in Your wrath,
And discipline me not in Your burning anger.
2 For Your (FE)arrows have pressed deep into me,
And (FF)Your hand has pressed down upon me.
3 There is (FG)no soundness in my flesh (FH)because of Your indignation;
There is no health (FI)in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my (FJ)iniquities go over my head;
As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
5 My [ab]wounds stink and rot
Because of (FK)my [ac]folly.
6 I am bent over and (FL)greatly bowed down;
I (FM)go mourning all day long.
7 For my loins are filled with (FN)burning,
And there is (FO)no soundness in my flesh.
8 I am (FP)faint and [ad]badly crushed;
I [ae](FQ)groan because of the [af]agitation of my heart.
9 Lord, all (FR)my desire is [ag]before You;
And my (FS)sighing is not hidden from You.
10 My heart throbs, (FT)my strength forsakes me;
And the (FU)light of my eyes, even [ah]that [ai]has gone from me.
11 My [aj](FV)loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague;
And my kinsmen (FW)stand afar off.
12 Those who (FX)search for my life (FY)lay snares for me;
And those who (FZ)seek [ak]to do me evil have [al]threatened destruction,
And they (GA)meditate on deception all day long.
13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear;
And I am like a (GB)mute man who does not open his mouth.
14 And I am like a man who does not hear,
And in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15 For (GC)I [am]wait on You, O Yahweh;
You (GD)will answer, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Save, lest they be glad over me,
Who, when my foot stumbles, (GE)magnify themselves against me.”
17 For I am (GF)ready to fall,
And (GG)my [an]sorrow is continually before me.
18 For I [ao](GH)confess my iniquity;
I am full of (GI)anxiety because of my sin.
19 But my (GJ)enemies are vigorous and [ap]strong,
And those who wrongfully (GK)hate me abound.
20 And those who (GL)repay evil for good,
They (GM)accuse me, for I pursue what is good.
21 Do not forsake me, O Yahweh;
O my God, (GN)do not be far from me!
22 Make (GO)haste to help me,
O Lord, (GP)my salvation!
