El Señor está con nosotros
(1) Del maestro de coro. Canto para flautas de los hijos de Coré.
46 (2) Dios es nuestro refugio y nuestra fuerza;
nuestra ayuda en momentos de angustia.
2 (3) Por eso no tendremos miedo,
aunque se deshaga la tierra,
aunque se hundan los montes en el fondo del mar,
3 (4) aunque ruja el mar y se agiten sus olas,
aunque tiemblen los montes a causa de su furia.
4 (5) Un río alegra con sus brazos la ciudad de Dios,
la más santa de las ciudades del Altísimo.
5 (6) Dios está en medio de ella, y la sostendrá;
Dios la ayudará al comenzar el día.
6 (7) Las naciones rugen, los reinos tiemblan,
la tierra se deshace cuando él deja oír su voz.
7 (8) ¡El Señor todopoderoso está con nosotros!
¡El Dios de Jacob es nuestro refugio!
8 (9) Vengan a ver las cosas sorprendentes
que el Señor ha hecho en la tierra:
9 (10) ha puesto fin a las guerras
hasta el último rincón del mundo;
ha roto los arcos,
ha hecho pedazos las lanzas,
¡ha prendido fuego a los carros de guerra!
10 (11) «¡Ríndanse! ¡Reconozcan que yo soy Dios!
¡Yo estoy por encima de las naciones!
¡Yo estoy por encima de toda la tierra!»
11 (12) ¡El Señor todopoderoso está con nosotros!

47 (2) ¡Aplaudan, pueblos todos!
¡Aclamen a Dios con gritos de alegría!
2 (3) Porque el Señor, el Altísimo, es terrible;
es el gran Rey de toda la tierra.
3 (4) Destrozó pueblos y naciones
y los sometió a nuestro yugo.
4 (5) Nos ha escogido nuestra herencia,
que es orgullo de Jacob, a quien amó.
5 (6) ¡Dios el Señor ha subido a su trono
entre gritos de alegría y toques de trompeta!
6 (7) ¡Canten, canten himnos a Dios!
¡Canten, canten himnos a nuestro Rey!
7 (8) ¡Canten un poema a Dios,
porque él es el Rey de toda la tierra!
8 (9) ¡Dios es el Rey de las naciones!
¡Dios está sentado en su santo trono!
9 (10a) Los hombres importantes de las naciones
se unen al pueblo del Dios de Abraham,
10 (10b) pues de Dios son los poderes del mundo.
¡Él está por encima de todo!
Grandeza de Sión, ciudad de Dios

48 (2) ¡El Señor es grande!
¡Nuestro Dios es digno de alabanza
en su ciudad y en su santo monte!
2 (3) ¡Qué hermosa altura la del monte Sión,
allá, en el extremo norte!
¡Es la alegría de toda la tierra!
¡Es la ciudad del gran Rey!
3 (4) Dios está en los palacios de Jerusalén;
Dios se ha dado a conocer como un refugio seguro.
4 (5) Pues los reyes se reunieron
y juntos avanzaron contra ella;
5 (6) pero al ver la ciudad se sorprendieron,
se inquietaron y huyeron.
6 (7) El miedo se adueñó de ellos:
se retorcían de dolor, como mujer de parto;
7 (8) como el viento del este, que destroza los barcos de Tarsis.
8 (9) En la ciudad de nuestro Dios,
el Señor todopoderoso,
hemos visto con nuestros ojos
lo mismo que nos habían contado:
¡Dios afirmará para siempre a Jerusalén!
9 (10) Oh Dios,
en medio de tu templo
pensamos en tu gran amor.
10 (11) Oh Dios,
por toda la tierra eres alabado
como corresponde a tu nombre.
Con tu poder haces plena justicia.
11 (12) ¡Que se alegre el monte Sión!
¡Que salten de alegría las ciudades de Judá
por tus justas decisiones!
12 (13) Caminen alrededor de Sión
y cuenten las torres que tiene;
13 (14) fíjense en su muralla y en sus palacios,
para que puedan contar
a las generaciones futuras
14 (15) que así es nuestro Dios
por toda la eternidad.
¡Él es nuestro guía eternamente!
El dinero no lo es todo

49 (2) Oigan bien esto,
pueblos y habitantes de todo el mundo,
2 (3) lo mismo los ricos que los pobres,
lo mismo los poderosos que los humildes.
3 (4) Voy a hablar con sabiduría
y expresaré pensamientos profundos;
4 (5) pondré atención a los refranes,
y diré mi secreto al son del arpa.
5 (6) ¿Por qué voy a tener miedo
cuando vengan los días malos,
cuando me encuentre rodeado
de la maldad de mis enemigos?
6 (7) Ellos confían en sus riquezas
y se jactan de sus muchos bienes,
7 (8) pero nadie puede salvarse a sí mismo
ni pagarle a Dios porque le salve la vida.
8 (9) ¡No hay dinero que pueda comprar la vida de un hombre,
9 (10) para que viva siempre y se libre de la muerte!
10 (11) Pues se ve que todos mueren por igual,
lo mismo los sabios que los tontos,
y se quedan para otros sus riquezas.
11 (12) Aunque dieron su nombre a sus tierras,
el sepulcro será su hogar eterno;
¡allí se quedarán para siempre!
12 (13) El hombre no es eterno, por muy rico que sea;
muere lo mismo que los animales.
13 (14) Así acaban los que en sí mismos confían;
así terminan los que a sí mismos se alaban.
14 (15) Para esa gente, la muerte es el pastor
que los conduce al sepulcro
como si fueran ovejas.
Cuando llegue la mañana,
los buenos triunfarán sobre ellos;
su fuerza irá decayendo
y el sepulcro será su hogar.
15 (16) Pero Dios me salvará del poder de la muerte,
pues me llevará con él.
16 (17) No te inquietes si alguien se hace rico
y aumenta el lujo de su casa,
17 (18) pues cuando muera no podrá llevarse nada,
ni su lujo le seguirá al sepulcro.
18 (19) Aunque se sienta feliz mientras vive,
y la gente lo alabe por ser rico,
19 (20) llegará el día en que se muera,
y no volverá a ver la luz.
20 (21) El hombre no es eterno, por muy rico que sea;
muere lo mismo que los animales.
Dios es un juez justo
(1a) Salmo de Asaf.
50 (1b) El Señor, el Dios de los dioses, ha hablado;
ha llamado a los que habitan la tierra
del oriente al occidente.
2 Dios resplandece desde Sión,
la ciudad de belleza perfecta.
3 Nuestro Dios viene, pero no en silencio:
delante de él, un fuego destructor;
a su alrededor, una fuerte tormenta.
4 Desde lo alto, Dios llama al cielo y a la tierra
a presenciar el juicio de su pueblo:
5 «Reúnan a los que me son fieles,
a los que han hecho una alianza conmigo
ofreciéndome un sacrificio.»
6 Y el cielo declara que Dios es juez justo.
7 «Escucha, Israel, pueblo mío;
voy a poner las cosas en claro contigo.
¡Yo soy Dios! ¡Yo soy tu Dios!
8 No te censuro por los sacrificios
y holocaustos que siempre me ofreces.
9 No te pido becerros de tu ganado
ni machos cabríos de tus corrales,
10 pues míos son todos los animales salvajes,
lo mismo que los ganados de las serranías;
11 mías son las aves de las montañas
y todo lo que bulle en el campo.
12 Si yo tuviera hambre, no te lo diría a ti,
pues el mundo es mío, con todo lo que hay en él.
13 ¿Acaso me alimento de carne de toros,
o bebo sangre de machos cabríos?
14 ¡Sea la gratitud tu ofrenda a Dios;
cumple al Altísimo tus promesas!
15 Llámame cuando estés angustiado;
yo te libraré, y tú me honrarás.»
16 Pero al malvado Dios le dice:
«¿Qué derecho tienes de citar mis leyes
o de mencionar mi alianza,
17 si no te agrada que yo te corrija
ni das importancia a mis palabras?
18 Al ladrón lo recibes con los brazos abiertos;
¡te juntas con gente adúltera!
19 Para el mal y para inventar mentiras
se te sueltan la lengua y los labios.
20 Calumnias a tu hermano;
¡contra tu propio hermano lanzas ofensas!
21 Todo esto has hecho, y me he callado;
pensaste que yo era igual que tú.
Pero voy a acusarte cara a cara,
¡voy a ajustarte las cuentas!
22 »Entiendan bien esto, ustedes que olvidan a Dios,
no sea que empiece yo a despedazarlos
y no haya quien los libre:
23 el que me ofrece su gratitud, me honra.
¡Yo salvo al que permanece en mi camino!»

Psalm 46[a]

1 God is our refuge(A) and strength,(B)
an ever-present(C) help(D) in trouble.(E)
2 Therefore we will not fear,(F) though the earth give way(G)
and the mountains fall(H) into the heart of the sea,(I)
3 though its waters roar(J) and foam(K)
and the mountains quake(L) with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river(M) whose streams(N) make glad the city of God,(O)
the holy place where the Most High(P) dwells.(Q)
5 God is within her,(R) she will not fall;(S)
God will help(T) her at break of day.
6 Nations(U) are in uproar,(V) kingdoms(W) fall;
he lifts his voice,(X) the earth melts.(Y)
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,(AD)
the desolations(AE) he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars(AF) cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow(AG) and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.(AH)
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;(AI)
I will be exalted(AJ) among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

2 For the Lord Most High(AO) is awesome,(AP)
the great King(AQ) over all the earth.
3 He subdued(AR) nations under us,
peoples under our feet.
4 He chose our inheritance(AS) for us,
the pride of Jacob,(AT) whom he loved.[f]
5 God has ascended(AU) amid shouts of joy,(AV)
the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.(AW)
6 Sing praises(AX) to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth;(AY)
sing to him a psalm(AZ) of praise.
8 God reigns(BA) over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.(BB)
9 The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings[g] of the earth belong to God;(BC)
he is greatly exalted.(BD)

1 Great is the Lord,(BE) and most worthy of praise,(BF)
in the city of our God,(BG) his holy mountain.(BH)
2 Beautiful(BI) in its loftiness,
the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon[i](BJ) is Mount Zion,(BK)
the city of the Great King.(BL)
3 God is in her citadels;(BM)
he has shown himself to be her fortress.(BN)
4 When the kings joined forces,
when they advanced together,(BO)
5 they saw her and were astounded;
they fled in terror.(BP)
6 Trembling seized(BQ) them there,
pain like that of a woman in labor.(BR)
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish(BS)
shattered by an east wind.(BT)
8 As we have heard,
so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
in the city of our God:
God makes her secure

9 Within your temple, O God,
we meditate(BV) on your unfailing love.(BW)
10 Like your name,(BX) O God,
your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;(BY)
your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
the villages of Judah are glad

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
count her towers,(CA)
13 consider well her ramparts,(CB)
view her citadels,(CC)
that you may tell of them
to the next generation.(CD)
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide(CE) even to the end.
Psalm 49[k]

1 Hear(CF) this, all you peoples;(CG)
listen, all who live in this world,(CH)
2 both low and high,(CI)
rich and poor alike:
3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom;(CJ)
the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.(CK)
4 I will turn my ear to a proverb;(CL)
with the harp(CM) I will expound my riddle:(CN)
5 Why should I fear(CO) when evil days come,
when wicked deceivers surround me—
6 those who trust in their wealth(CP)
and boast(CQ) of their great riches?(CR)
7 No one can redeem the life of another
or give to God a ransom for them—
8 the ransom(CS) for a life is costly,
no payment is ever enough—(CT)
9 so that they should live on(CU) forever
and not see decay.(CV)
10 For all can see that the wise die,(CW)
that the foolish and the senseless(CX) also perish,
leaving their wealth(CY) to others.(CZ)
11 Their tombs(DA) will remain their houses[l] forever,
their dwellings for endless generations,(DB)
though they had[m] named(DC) lands after themselves.
13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,(DF)
and of their followers, who approve their sayings.[n]
14 They are like sheep and are destined(DG) to die;(DH)
death will be their shepherd
(but the upright will prevail(DI) over them in the morning).
Their forms will decay in the grave,
far from their princely mansions.
15 But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead;(DJ)
he will surely take me to himself.(DK)
16 Do not be overawed when others grow rich,
when the splendor of their houses increases;
17 for they will take nothing(DL) with them when they die,
their splendor will not descend with them.(DM)
18 Though while they live they count themselves blessed—(DN)
and people praise you when you prosper—
19 they will join those who have gone before them,(DO)
who will never again see the light(DP) of life.
Psalm 50
A psalm of Asaph.
1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord,(DS)
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to where it sets.(DT)
2 From Zion,(DU) perfect in beauty,(DV)
God shines forth.(DW)
3 Our God comes(DX)
and will not be silent;(DY)
a fire devours(DZ) before him,(EA)
and around him a tempest(EB) rages.
4 He summons the heavens above,
and the earth,(EC) that he may judge his people:(ED)
5 “Gather to me this consecrated people,(EE)
who made a covenant(EF) with me by sacrifice.”
6 And the heavens proclaim(EG) his righteousness,
for he is a God of justice.[o][p](EH)
7 “Listen, my people, and I will speak;
I will testify(EI) against you, Israel:
I am God, your God.(EJ)
8 I bring no charges(EK) against you concerning your sacrifices
or concerning your burnt offerings,(EL) which are ever before me.

or of goats(EN) from your pens,(EO)
10 for every animal of the forest(EP) is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.(EQ)
11 I know every bird(ER) in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields(ES) are mine.
12 If I were hungry I would not tell you,
for the world(ET) is mine, and all that is in it.(EU)
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
14 “Sacrifice thank offerings(EV) to God,
fulfill your vows(EW) to the Most High,(EX)
15 and call(EY) on me in the day of trouble;(EZ)
I will deliver(FA) you, and you will honor(FB) me.”
16 But to the wicked person, God says:
“What right have you to recite my laws
or take my covenant(FC) on your lips?(FD)
17 You hate(FE) my instruction
and cast my words behind(FF) you.
18 When you see a thief, you join(FG) with him;
you throw in your lot with adulterers.(FH)
19 You use your mouth for evil
and harness your tongue to deceit.(FI)
20 You sit and testify against your brother(FJ)
and slander your own mother’s son.
21 When you did these things and I kept silent,(FK)
you thought I was exactly[q] like you.
But I now arraign(FL) you
and set my accusations(FM) before you.
