I Have Overcome the World

25 “I have said these things to you in figures of speech. (A)The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; 27 (B)for the Father himself loves you, because (C)you have loved me and (D)have believed that I came from God.[a] 28 (E)I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now (F)I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”

29 His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not (G)using figurative speech! 30 Now we know that (H)you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that (I)you came from God.” 31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Behold, (J)the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when (K)you will be scattered, each to his own home, and (L)will leave me alone. (M)Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33 I have said these things to you, that (N)in me you may have peace. (O)In the world you will have (P)tribulation. But (Q)take heart; (R)I have overcome the world.”

The High Priestly Prayer

17 When Jesus had spoken these words, (S)he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, (T)the hour has come; (U)glorify your Son that the Son may (V)glorify you, since (W)you have given him authority over all flesh, (X)to give eternal life to all (Y)whom you have given him. (Z)And this is eternal life, (AA)that they know you, (AB)the only (AC)true God, and (AD)Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I (AE)glorified you on earth, (AF)having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, (AG)glorify me in your own presence with the glory (AH)that I had with you (AI)before the world existed.

(AJ)“I have manifested your name to the people (AK)whom you gave me out of the world. (AL)Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything (AM)that you have given me is from you. For I have given them (AN)the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that (AO)I came from you; and (AP)they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. (AQ)I am not praying for the world but for those (AR)whom you have given me, for (AS)they are yours. 10 (AT)All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and (AU)I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but (AV)they are in the world, and (AW)I am coming to you. (AX)Holy Father, (AY)keep them in your name, (AZ)which you have given me, (BA)that they may be one, (BB)even as we are one. 12 (BC)While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have (BD)guarded them, and (BE)not one of them has been lost except (BF)the son of destruction, (BG)that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now (BH)I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have (BI)my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 (BJ)I have given them your word, and (BK)the world has hated them (BL)because they are not of the world, (BM)just as I am not of the world. 15 I (BN)do not ask that you (BO)take them out of the world, but that you (BP)keep them from (BQ)the evil one.[b] 16 (BR)They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 (BS)Sanctify them[c] in the truth; (BT)your word is truth. 18 (BU)As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And (BV)for their sake (BW)I consecrate myself,[d] that they also (BX)may be sanctified[e] in truth.

20 “I do not (BY)ask for these only, but also for those (BZ)who will believe in me through their word, 21 (CA)that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that (CB)they also may be in (CC)us, so that the world (CD)may believe that you have sent me. 22 (CE)The glory that you have given me (CF)I have given to them, (CG)that they may be one even as we are one, 23 (CH)I in them and you in me, (CI)that they may become perfectly one, (CJ)so that the world may know that you sent me and (CK)loved them even as (CL)you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be (CM)with me (CN)where I am, (CO)to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me (CP)before the foundation of the world. 25 (CQ)O righteous Father, even though (CR)the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 (CS)I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love (CT)with which you have loved me may be in them, and (CU)I in them.”
