The Word Became Flesh

1 In the beginning was the Word,^(A) and the Word was with God,^(B) and the Word was God.^(C)

¹⁴ The Word became flesh^(A) and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory,^(B) the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace^(C) and truth.^(D)

³⁰ I and the Father are one.”^(A)

⁴⁵ The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.^(A)

⁷ If you really know me, you will know^[a] my Father as well.^(A) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

⁸ Philip^(B) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

⁹ Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.^(C) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

⁵ Theirs are the patriarchs,^(A) and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah,^(B) who is God over all,^(C) forever praised!^[a](D) Amen.

⁵ In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:^(A)

⁹ For in Christ all the fullness^(A) of the Deity lives in bodily form,

⁸ But about the Son he says,
