Gerichtsandrohung wider die Nachbarvölker
2 Tut euch zusammen, sammelt euch,
Volk ohne Scham,
2 ehe der Ratschluß sich erfüllt -
wie Spreu geht der Tag vorüber! -,
ehe der grimmige Zorn des Herrn über euch kommt,
ehe der Tag des Zornes des Herrn euch ereilt!
3 Suchet den Herrn, alle ihr Demütigen im Lande,
die ihr sein Recht übet!
Suchet Gerechtigkeit, befleißiget euch der Demut;
vielleicht werdet ihr Bergung finden am Tage des Zornes des Herrn!
Wider Kanaan und Philisterland
4 Denn Gaza wird verlassen
und Askalon verödet werden,
Asdod soll am hellen Mittag fortgetrieben
und Ekron ausgerottet werden.
5 Wehe den Bewohnern der Meeresküste, dem Kretervolk!
Das Wort des Herrn ergeht wider dich, Kanaan, du Philisterland:
Ich will dich also zu Grunde richten, daß niemand mehr da wohnen soll!
6 Und es soll der Landstrich am Meere zu Hirtenwohnungen und Schafhürden werden;
7 und dieser Landstrich soll den Übriggebliebenen vom Hause Juda als Erbteil zufallen,
daß sie darauf weiden
und sich des Abends in den Häusern von Askalon lagern sollen,
denn der Herr, ihr Gott, wird sie heimsuchen
und ihr Gefängnis wenden.
Wider Moab und Ammon
8 Ich habe die Beschimpfung Moabs gehört
und die Lästerungen der Kinder Ammon,
womit sie mein Volk geschmäht
und sich wider ihr Gebiet gerühmt haben.
9 Darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels,
soll Moab wie Sodom und die Kinder Ammon wie Gomorra werden,
nämlich ein Besitz der Nesseln und eine Salzgrube und eine ewige Wüstenei;
die Übriggebliebenen meines Volkes sollen sie berauben
und der Rest meiner Nation sie beerben.
10 Solches soll ihnen widerfahren für ihren Stolz,
daß sie gelästert
und wider das Volk des Herrn der Heerscharen großgetan haben.
11 Furchtbar wird der Herr über ihnen sein;
denn er wird allen Göttern auf Erden ein Ende machen,
und es werden ihn anbeten alle Inseln der Heiden,
jedermann von seinem Orte aus;
Wider Kusch (Äthiopien) und Assur
12 auch ihr Kuschiten, -
die mein Schwert verwundet hat.
13 Er wird auch seine Hand nach Norden ausstrecken
und wird Assur vernichten
und Ninive zur Wüste machen,
dürr wie eine Steppe;
14 daß sich mitten darin Herden lagern werden,
Tiere aller Art;
Pelikan und Rohrdommel
werden auf ihren Säulenknäufen übernachten,
[Vogel-]geschrei wird in den Fenstern ertönen,
auf der Schwelle wird ein Schutthaufen liegen,
da das Zedernwerk bloßgelegt ist.
15 Das ist die lustige Stadt,
die so sicher wohnte,
die in ihrem Herzen sprach:
«Ich und keine sonst!»
Wie ist sie zur Wildnis geworden,
zum Lagerplatz der Tiere!
Wer vorübergeht,
zischt über sie und schwenkt seine Hand.

2 Agrúpense y congréguense, oh nación que no tiene vergüenza, 2 antes de que sean desechados y el día pase como el tamo[a]; antes que venga sobre ustedes el día de la ira del SEÑOR. 3 Busquen al SEÑOR, todos los mansos de la tierra que ejecutan su decreto. Busquen justicia, busquen mansedumbre; quizás serán protegidos en el día del furor del SEÑOR.
Castigo de las naciones vecinas
4 “Porque Gaza quedará desamparada y Ascalón desolada. Asdod será expulsada a mediodía y Ecrón será desarraigada. 5 ¡Ay de los que habitan en la zona del mar, la nación de los quereteos! La palabra del SEÑOR está contra ustedes, oh Canaán, tierra de los filisteos; te haré destruir hasta que no quede morador. 6 La zona del mar será convertida en pradera de pastores y en rediles de ovejas. 7 Y aquella zona será para el remanente de la casa de Judá. Allí apacentarán y en las casas de Ascalón se recostarán en la noche, porque el SEÑOR su Dios los visitará para hacer volver sus cautivos.
8 “He oído las afrentas de Moab y los insultos con que los hijos de Amón afrentaron a mi pueblo y se expandieron sobre sus territorios. 9 Por tanto, vivo yo, dice el SEÑOR de los Ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que Moab será como Sodoma y los hijos de Amón como Gomorra[b]: campo de ortigas, salinas y perpetua desolación. El remanente de mi pueblo los saqueará y el resto de mi gente los heredará. 10 Esto les sucederá por su soberbia, porque afrentaron y se engrandecieron a costa del pueblo del SEÑOR de los Ejércitos. 11 Temible será el SEÑOR contra ellos, porque hará que todos los dioses de la tierra vengan a menos. Cada uno se postrará ante él desde su lugar, en todas las costas de las naciones.
12 “También ustedes, los de Etiopía, serán muertos con mi espada”.
13 Después extenderá su mano contra el norte y destruirá a Asiria. Convertirá a Nínive en desolación y en sequedal, como un desierto. 14 En medio de ella se recostarán las manadas y todo animal del campo[c]. Tanto el búho como el erizo pernoctarán en sus capiteles. La lechuza cantará en la ventana y el cuervo[d] en el umbral; pues su enmaderado de cedro quedará expuesto. 15 Esta es la ciudad alegre que habitaba confiadamente, la que decía en su corazón: “Solo yo y nadie más”. ¡Cómo ha sido convertida en horror, en guarida de fieras! Cualquiera que pase junto a ella silbará y agitará la mano.

Judah and Jerusalem Judged Along With the Nations
Judah Summoned to Repent
2 Gather together,(A) gather yourselves together,
you shameful(B) nation,
2 before the decree takes effect
and that day passes like windblown chaff,(C)
before the Lord’s fierce anger(D)
comes upon you,
before the day of the Lord’s wrath(E)
comes upon you.
3 Seek(F) the Lord, all you humble of the land,
you who do what he commands.
Seek righteousness,(G) seek humility;(H)
perhaps you will be sheltered(I)
on the day of the Lord’s anger.
Philistia
4 Gaza(J) will be abandoned
and Ashkelon(K) left in ruins.
At midday Ashdod will be emptied
and Ekron uprooted.
5 Woe to you who live by the sea,
you Kerethite(L) people;
the word of the Lord is against you,(M)
Canaan, land of the Philistines.
He says, “I will destroy you,
and none will be left.”(N)
6 The land by the sea will become pastures
having wells for shepherds
and pens for flocks.(O)
7 That land will belong
to the remnant(P) of the people of Judah;
there they will find pasture.
In the evening they will lie down
in the houses of Ashkelon.
The Lord their God will care for them;
he will restore their fortunes.[a](Q)
Moab and Ammon
8 “I have heard the insults(R) of Moab(S)
and the taunts of the Ammonites,(T)
who insulted(U) my people
and made threats against their land.(V)
9 Therefore, as surely as I live,”
declares the Lord Almighty,
the God of Israel,
“surely Moab(W) will become like Sodom,(X)
the Ammonites(Y) like Gomorrah—
a place of weeds and salt pits,
a wasteland forever.
The remnant of my people will plunder(Z) them;
the survivors(AA) of my nation will inherit their land.(AB)”
10 This is what they will get in return for their pride,(AC)
for insulting(AD) and mocking
the people of the Lord Almighty.(AE)
11 The Lord will be awesome(AF) to them
when he destroys all the gods(AG) of the earth.(AH)
Distant nations will bow down to him,(AI)
all of them in their own lands.

13 He will stretch out his hand against the north
and destroy Assyria,(AL)
leaving Nineveh(AM) utterly desolate
and dry as the desert.(AN)
14 Flocks and herds(AO) will lie down there,
creatures of every kind.
The desert owl(AP) and the screech owl(AQ)
will roost on her columns.
Their hooting will echo through the windows,
rubble will fill the doorways,
the beams of cedar will be exposed.
15 This is the city of revelry(AR)
that lived in safety.(AS)
She said to herself,
“I am the one! And there is none besides me.”(AT)
What a ruin she has become,
a lair for wild beasts!(AU)
All who pass by her scoff(AV)
and shake their fists.(AW)
