The Crown and the Temple

And the (A)word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 10 (B)Take an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah; and you come the same day and come into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon. 11 And take silver and gold, make an ornate (C)crown, and set it on the head of (D)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then you will say to him, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is [a](E)Branch, and He will [b](F)branch out from where He is; and He will (G)build the temple of Yahweh. 13 Indeed, it is He who will build the temple of Yahweh, and He who will (H)bear the splendor and sit and (I)rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a (J)priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two [c]offices.”’ 14 Now the (K)crown will become a memorial in the temple of Yahweh to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and [d]Hen the son of Zephaniah. 15 (L)And those who are far off will come and [e]build the temple of Yahweh.” Then you will (M)know that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you. And it will happen if you utterly (N)listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.

The Future Prosperity of the Branch

Then this message from the Lord came to me: 10 “Go take up an offering[a] from those who came out of[b] the Babylonian[c] exile, that is, from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah. Go along with them today into the house of Zephaniah’s son Josiah, who returned from Babylon. 11 Take silver and gold and fashion crowns to set upon the head of Joshua son of Johozadak, the High Priest. 12 Then tell him, ‘This is what the Lord of the Heavenly Armies says: “Here is the man whose name is The Branch.[d] He will branch out from where he is and will rebuild the Temple of the Lord. 13 Yes, he will indeed rebuild the Temple of the Lord, and he will exalt its majesty by sitting and ruling on his throne. He will serve as priest on his throne, and no contention[e] will exist between them. 14 The crowns will go to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Zephaniah’s son Hen, as a memorial in the Temple of the Lord. 15 Those who are now far away will come and do reconstruction work in the Temple of the Lord. Then you will know that the Lord of the Heavenly Armies has sent me to you. This will come about if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”’”
